Hi Ladies,
I'm newly pregnant and I made an appointment with Dr. Thai today, for next month. Does anyone have any experience with Dr. Thai good or bad? I had an u/s with my RE today and I'm having twins Has anyone that's gone to this office had twins? How was the delivery at Providence Park?
Any additional information you could give me would be great.
TIA!
eta: Also, can you see the midwives and doctor? If anyone has used the midwives, how does this work?
Re: Metro Partners in Women's Health Girls!!
I go there, but I see Dr. Lacoste. I love her, Dr. Hakim is a very close 2nd to her. Dr. Thai broke my water, she seems nice, but other than that I have no experience with her. I know a couple of women that delivered twins through them and both had wonderful experiences.
I love Providence Park, its an awesome hospital with a wonderful nursing staff. The Lactation Consultant is amazing. Food is great, no complaints from me! I can't wait to deliver there again in July.
From what I understand, you have to make the choice, either the OB or Midwives. It's a decision you have to make.
If you have any other specific questions just let me know!

Hi, and congrats on your pregnancy and...twins!!! How exciting. I haven't met her personally yet, but Dr. Thai returned my call after hours when I was having a miscarriage. She was very patient with me (I was a wreck) and answered all my questions. She was very helpful, and nice.
I see Dr. Hakim, and have also seen Dr. Marback and Dr. Pezeshki. I'm getting close to delivery so I"ll probably be seeing Dr. Lacoste and Thai pretty soon...especially since Dr. Hakim's wife is due the week before me and there's a high likelihood he won't be there to deliver my baby. I can't give you any specifics on Providence Park, but will be able to sometime next month ;-) We took our tour there this past Saturday and it was very nice.
GL! H&H 9 months.
Hi, Congrats! I'm a twin mom too.
You will want to spend a lot of time on the Multiples board on The Bump as its a great source of information.
With twins, a lot of women end up seeing a specialist (called a MFM - Maternal Fetal Medicine) because twin pg can be tricky and usually require more interventions than a singleton pg.
Also, depending upon how your pg goes, if you have complications, you might want to look at area hospitals NICU centers. There are 3 levels of NICU care and only a few hospitals in Metro Detroit offer the highest level for the most critically ill babies. Hopefully you won't need NICU services, but better to be informed and aware of choices.
I also found that a lot of midwives will not take you as a patient with twin pg. Twins are too complicated and not straight forward. There are often complications and you will need more care / screening than a midwife would offer.
I would call Providence Park and ask if they will let you deliver twins with a midwife. I thought when I checked there last year that it was not a option.
I had always wanted a natural, home birth with a midwife and doula and a birthing tub. What I ended up with was the furthest thing possible from that scenario. However, I did fight to have a doula present and that was a saving grace in the chaos of my unexpected emergency c-section at 33 weeks.
Good luck and H&H 9 months!
Thank you so much for this information! I've been debating about that in my mind. If you don't mind me asking, where did you deliver? My final decision on hospitals was between Providence Park and Hutzel. I don't want to deal with the many hassles I may have to deal with at Hutzel.
Welcome to the moms of multiples club.
I delivered my twins with Dr. Thai. I ended up choosing her as my primary doctor because she is pro-vaginal delivery for twins. She also happened to be on call when I delivered.
I had a very easy and complication-free pregnancy. I spent a lot of time worrying about what could go wrong and it was a huge waste of time. I also had an excellent delivery. Dr. Thai said it was the best multiples delivery she'd had in her career. It's very easy to get caught up with complications that might happen, but it's best to take it day by day. My girls were born at 36w2d and were small but very healthy. They didn't require any time in the NICU or special care nursery. We all went home together less than 48 hours after I delivered.
Good luck to you!
Thank you for this! Very encouraging. I guess in a situation where they may be coming early, I can always deliver at Providence in Southfield.
Thank you! Congratulations on the baby girl. I'm glad your experience was good enough that you would return. I'll keep these things in mind, even though I have a long way to go :-)
