Handling everything?

Moms working full time how are you handling everything? I feel like I'm failing horribly, of course everyone understands. Which makes me feel even worse. I have lots of help my ILs have lived with us for the past ten years and they really help a lot. Since I've gone back to work I feel like I'm not handling my children, job, husband, and home well. Anyone else feel this way?

  • I think you just have to prioritize what's most important and let the rest slide. I'm doing great with my kids, husband and job, but my house is a wreck. I was just thinking the me 5 years ago would have never been ok with the mess in literally every room. I mean, it's not out of control, but things just are not in their place or put away like they used to be. I'd much rather spend time with my kids and DH at night than pick up though.

  • There are some days that I definitely feel like that.  I broke down 2 weeks ago and it was BAD.  But I think DH finally got the message because he's been helping out a little more.  It's so small, but him helping with a couple things around the house has made a huge difference for me.

  • I don't worry as much about how clean my house is or if the dishes are done every night.  I would rather spend that time with LO and SO.  I try to do one load of laundry a night to keep up with it and then spend an hr while LO naps on sat or night on one thing around the house ie: Dusting, vaccum, clean kitchen, bathroom.  Def helps if SO is willing to help I don't think I could do any of it without his help.  SO and I have about an hr after LO goes to bed and we head that way to catch up on the day, or do whatever (sometimes fun time if we arent to tired)  I still feel like I am a bad mom, gf and worker sometimes but I just take it day by day.  I have cried plenty but I am doing all I can....GL!!

  • Thanks for posting I think I'm just freaking because everyone in my house is sick but LO & me. I have had doc appointments and a sick 11 & 14 year old thrown in the mix. Also frustrated with trying to keep LO & myself from getting sick. I know it gets easierits just taking longer than it did 11 years ago.

  • I work 10 hours a day with a 1 hour commute each way (only 4 days a week, thank god) so its really tough on the days I work but we are handling it with not too much stress.  My hubby is really helpful cleaning and doing laundry when he can, but mainly i've just decided not to stress about the piles of unfolded laundry and the messiness that builds up during the week.  We can get to it on the weekend and whats more important is spending time with DS in the evening.  Another thing that has helped a lot is that I've started taking one of my days off to cook several meals and stick them in the freezer for our dinners.  Not as great as a freshly cooked meal but it really cuts down on the stress and allows us to eat healthy.
