I'm almost 20 weeks and am about 6-10lbs heavier. (not sure of my exact weight before I got pregnant, it has always fluctuated.) I guess I'm only suppose to gain 25lbs since I was considered 10-14lbs overweight prior to pregnancy? I think I deserve to gain 35. ![]()
What about you? How much have you gained?
Re: Lets share how much weight we've gained!
I'm also 17 weeks, and I've gained about 8 lbs.
Ask your doctor about weight gain. Mine wants me at 25-30 and I'm a LOT more than 15lbs overweight.

This is how I am too. I think I am finally back at my pre-pregnancy weight. I lost 7 pounds or so in the 1st tri. With DS I was slowly gaining it back and then WHAM. On comes the weight!
I was 15 lbs overweight on the nose when I got pregnant, and my doctor wants me to gain 25 - 35 lbs... I would ask.
As of my 18 wk appt yesterday, I'm up 7 lbs. My OB said that was doing "great" and according to the online calculator I'm still within the range I should be in (gain 15-20 lbs because I was overweight to start with). My OB said she'd be comfortable with 25 lbs, but I'm going to try to NOT take her up on that.

The guidelines for pregnancy weight gain were lowered in 2009 but many OBs still quote the "old" numbers (which were way higher than numbers used in other countries and higher than recommended based on more recent research).
Under the newer guidelines, for someone "overweight" pre-pregnancy (BMI 25-30), the current guidelines call for 15-25 lbs. For those "obese" according to BMI (over 30 BMI), they call for 11-20 lbs. That's why I'm aiming to stay under 20 even though my OB said 25 would be fine (my pre-pregnancy BMI was 31).

MERRY CHRISTMAS MOMMIES!
I find it interesting to see how different women gain during pregnancy. I kind of find the guidelines silly in the sense that everyone is so different in the rate that they gain!
So far, I am 18 weeks and up 10lbs as of my apt a week ago. I don't weigh myself at home becuase after years of eating disorders and body issues, it's easier for me just to have the dr do it. I will say, I'm happy with my weight gain so far since it seems to only be in my boobs, belly, and butt. I was on the small side to begin with so the dr said 35lbs is what I should expect to gain.
