Santa is a fail this year

Stella is terrified of Santa.  We went to breakfast with Santa at Wegmans on Saturday and she cried so bad, it hurt my heart!  Then I took her to a Christmas thing last night and she wouldn't even go into the building where Santa was.  Oh well, I'm definitely not going to force her.  We'll get Audrey'rs pic taken with the mall Santa and call it a day.  Maybe next year...and then Audrey will be the scared one!  MIL told me that DH wouldn't sit on Santa's lap until he was 7 or 8!  Is anyone else's LO having a hard time with the jolly man?

Re: Santa is a fail this year

  • We didn't even try last year because of the big fail from the year before.  This year, I definitely want to go get Riley's pic with Santa for her first Christmas, but when I asked if Gavin wanted to get his picture taken, too, he quickly said No!

  • We went to a breakfast thing a few weeks ago, total fail.  She would not even let got of me.  The pic is bad, she's starring at Santa, I'm smiling at the camera (but it's not a good pic) and DH and Santa are looking at each other talking.  Then last weekend we went to the library and she took a toy from him but I wasn't even going to attempt to get her near him since she was already miserable.

On the 21st and 22nd DH plays Santa for the local elementary school and the Senior Citizens at the Community house so I'm going to make him hang out around the house dressed up for a while so hopefully we get a picture.  This plan can't last forever either so hopefully she starts to like Santa!

So it looks like we won't be seeing you guys in line like for the Easter Bunny!  Although, I heard a rumor that mall Santa had pneumonia....

LOL, that was funny when we saw you in line for the Bunny!  And oh no about mall Santa, now I'm sort of rethinking going on Wed.  They would have had to get another one right?  The one last year was great, real beard and all!

  • Yup!  Ryan can't get enough of looking at him, but put him in his lap and the tears start coming and he can't get off fast enough!

I saw him at the mall on Sunday. He didn't look gray to me. :)

  • Evan was soooo excited to see Santa... while we were waiting in line he wanted to run in front of everyone. Then, of course, once it was his turn he didn't want to get too close. He didn't cry or anything... just wouldn't really sit on his lap. He did manage to tell him he wanted a train!
  • We have not even tried... She is relly weary of strangers and although she likes Santa, only from a distance.

I think they would have to have somebody else!  Or it could always have been a false rumor too :)

This was DD. Was all about it until we got up to him. Then I had to crouch down and she sat on my lap and talked to him.  Wanted nothing to do with sitting on his lap

  • Mia is okay if we walk past Santa at the mall and she can just wave, but the day we were going to see him, she started crying from about 100 feet away.  She was. not. having. it.  Ha.  I wasn't going to pay for pictures anyway ($30 no thanks), so Owen sat on Santa's lap and talked to him and loved it and I tried to stand close by, but far away to ease Mia's crying.  It was fun.  Not.

  • Evan was the same last year as this year...he is good with Santa at a distance, but when it would come to him getting close to him he is "all done".

  • It was awful this year. Ian talked such a good game, knew exactly what he wanted to ask Santa for for Christmas, but the second he laid eyes on Santa, he wanted nothing to do with him. Couldn't get him to talk or even look at Santa. Finally got him to take a picture, but he was sitting on my lap and I had to lean out of view. The picture is pitiful, but I guess is something to look back on years from now?
