I was told to bring appetizers for christmas (which is being held on Dec 17th) there will be about 20'ish people.
First how many do I make? I'm not gonna make 1 for 20 people... right?
I was thinking two or three... But I'm not much of a "cook/baker" what would you make?
Dip? (I know there's one cream cheese, cocktail sauce & shrimp/lobster/crab) served with crackers.
What else is good and not too hard?
Re: Apps quick, easy & good... what & how many would you make?
I just had a Christmas brunch over the weekend, this is what I had for apps:
-Cheese platter w/ crackers
-Melon (cantalope) wrapped with proscuitto
-Bacon-wrapped dates (you wrap them, then stick them in the oven until crispy - really easy).
-Spinach & artichoke dip w/ baguette (I have an easy crockpot recipe if you want)

Yes. I almost want to show you the what to bring list...
Host and my MIL (and I'm suppose to go over on friday to help) - Are making lasagna and a roast of some sort. But really, my MIL is doing everything.
Me - Apps
Aunt - Desserts
Cousin - Veggies
SIL - Potatoes
Cousin- Salad
please and thank you.
I only have a large crockpot, I'm guessing that's not what you use? My friend has a smaller one for dips, shall I ask to borrow that one?
I like the bacon wrapped thing, my friend does them with water chestnuts... But I'm not sure her oven will be available for use.
I love these suggestions. Some of my favs are Bacon-Wrapped Green Beans, and Baked Spinach Dip Mini Bread Bowls. You also can't go wrong with veggie/fruit/cheese platters.
Edit: I hadn't seen that yes you are the only one responsible for bringing apps, so scratch that question.
I make mine in a big crockpot with no problems:
-2 packs of cream cheese (you can use light with no problems)
-1 small box of frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed of all the water
-1 small clove of garlic, finely chopped
-1 cup of sour cream
-1/2 cup mayo
-2 cans of artichoke hearts, chopped.
-1 cup grated parmesan cheese
Stick it all in the crockpot on high for a couple hours. It's soooooo good.

Shrimp cocktail
baked brie with crackers
I would think 2-3 apps would be good. How about:
Baked brie with crackers
Veggies with crudite
Shrimp cocktail
My hubs wants shrimp... That's easy enough.
Baked brie is good, but always around for thanksgiving... not sure I'd do it for christmas as well.
crudite, I've never heard of.
veggie/dip is always good and easy.
How about some mini quiche?
Never made em, anyone know any easy way?
I make a seven-layer Mediterranean dip that people always love:
Hummus, baby spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta, red onion, black olives. Serve with tostitos or pita.
Hum, people might like like this...
In that order just like a 7 layer mexican dip?
Do you cook the spinach?
LOL. Thanks, I totally assumed Crudit=fancy cheese. Guess not!
