My pediatrician recommends the earliest to get their ears pierced is 6mths. With DD#1 we waited till she was about 9mths. I'll probably do the same with DD#2
I work at Walmart and pierce ears. We require them to be at least 2 months old and with their first round of shots. I pierced my own daughter's ears about a week after her 2-month check up. From my experience and in my opinion, it's way better to do them when they're a baby and can't mess with them. I've had so many issues with girls who are kindergarten - 10 or so age where they'll be so excited to get it done, then when we're setting up they get so nervous and worked up that they either back out, or get one done and refuse to do the other side.
Im waiting until she's old enough to ask for them if she wants them, as well as take care of them herself. I was 12ish when I had mine done, so we'll see about my DD.
Here in Spain most people get their baby girls' ears pierced in the hospital. I personally am waiting until she asks for them, buy I don't really think it's dangerous to get them pierced so young.
Technically, you can get them done as soon as she has her first round of shots but the APA recommends waiting until 6 months (I believe due to risk of infection but I could be wrong on that). I had my older DD's done at 6 months and she did very well and never messed with them. Will probably do the same with DD#2.

We got DDs pierced at 3 months. She did great, no worse than getting shots. She's now almost 5 months and they've never been infected, they healed great! I don't regret it at all. The jewlery store would do them at 3 months, but I know some hair salons will do them earlier.
Personally I think it they should be old enough to ask for them. Why do something to someone else's body when they may not even want them when they're older? It's a selfish reason to get them done so early IMO. Flame away, but I'm waiting until she's old enough to want them herself.
This. Her ears are perfect as they are. Putting holes in them is not my decision to make, it is hers.

This. I can't imagine letting someone put a needle through my DD's ears simply because it looks cute. Yes, she may want them done when she is older, and yes it will hurt then, but it's her decision. I got my ears pierced when I was 4...I wanted them badly, I knew it would hurt but I was fine with it. My mom helped me clean them and they never got infected. That's the way I will do it with my daughter....she can get them done when she's old enough to ask for them consistently for at least a few months.
