New to The Bump

I'm not sure where I belong...

Hi - I'm not new to pregnancy, but new to the bump boards. I've been 'lurking' on other boards to see where I belong, but I just can't seem to find a specific board that fits me. I'm in Ohio, but not in one of the major metropolitan areas, so the local groups don't work well for me. Of course, I could join the "age" boards because I have a bump, toddler, & preschooler but since this is my third baby, I've surpassed the "unknown" part of pregnancy, childbirth and raising.

(Sorry if the next few sentences offend anyone, I'm not meaning to offend, its just my pregnancy & child raising style - some is controllable, others are not, please don't judge) I have no problems getting pregnant, and I have very easy pregnancies with little to no issues. I've had fairly easy L&D with easy recoveries. I'm very much pro-epidurals. I gain the recommended weight and it comes off easy. Some issues with breastfeeding, but between my two kids I'm fairly confident with it now. I don't follow a specific "method" to raising children. I wear my baby when needed, but don't co-sleep. I follow routines, but am flexible because babies are constantly changing. I make some of my baby food, but also buy the jarred stuff. I follow standard vaccination procedures. I use disposable diapers. My 3 y/o still has a paci!

I have many friends who are TTC and have had complications. Therefore, I don't talk much about my pregnancies and children without the risk of upsetting them. I'm just looking for a board or two that would allow me to share some of my issues, stories and questions about my parenting/pregnancy styles.

 thanks for listening.

  • Maybe you could be more of the voice of experience than the one who asks all the questions? I'd keep lurking and see where you settle in.

  • Welcome to the bump.  I haven't gotten to the point where I have explored the pregnancy boards yet so I can't offer much advice.  Just keep shopping, I'm sure you will find a place with fun supportive women to talk to.

  • you could try the 2 under 2 board..There are a lot of parents on there that have actually graduated to over 2 and they are always happy to have a voice of experience and alot of them are still waiting on the newest arrival!!

And the preschool age and toddler age groups would be appropriate too as well as parenting!! Either way all of the boards I have lurked on or posted on are great and I hope you find somewhere you feel comfortable.

  • I'm a newbie who just started commenting - for the same reason. I have no idea where I belong, after lurking on many of the boards I don't see many that are very welcoming even if you fit the "description" and God forbid you post something that one of the "regulars' disagree with.  Then they and their posse will rip you a new one, I've read a few that I feel terrible for the new kid. lol. Guess I will start by posting here and continue to lurk on other boards.
