For those FTMs how old will you be when LO arrives?
For those that already have children, how old were you when you first became a mom?
I guess I'm feeling a little down today... I'm just a 21 yo Marine wife working for minimum wage still trying to figure out what it is I wanna go back to college for. You guys all seem so successful already.
I wish I was more decisive with a career. I just can't figure out what will make me happy... Hmmm...
Re: How old are/were you?
You feel young and I feel old! I am 34, and at 21 I didn't know what I wanted to do either. I teach English at the college level now, and I am working on my dissertation now- so within the next year I'll have my PhD (that took forever!).
I love what I do! A lot of my friends who were working at 21 have completely different careers now. Give yourself time to figure it out - I know I am glad that I did
I'm 24 and don't know what I want to do. I'm unemployed because I found out I was pregnant the day after I got my associate's, and I was so sick the 1st trimester that we just decided it would be better to stay home. DH makes enough for that to be possible, but I'm so stir crazy that I suspect I'll be back on the job hunt by the time baby is 3 months.
As far as how old I'll be when baby is born, it depends on the exact day. My 25th birthday is 4 days after his due date.
This is actually kinda what I wanna do. I love math and I'm extremely good at it, but the thought of teaching people just a few years younger than me feels overwhelming to me lol. I feel like they will have no respect.

My husband teaches math to high school juniors right now and he's only 24. He loves it and the kids really get along well with him because he's not that much older than them.

Don't worry lady. Some people NEVER figure out what they want to do; as long as you have a good head on your shoulders, good support system ; somehow things always fall into place

I had my first child when I was 15
I am now 39 and having my second.
I did graduate and go straight to college when I turned 18 (Michigan Wolverine!) and was graduating when I was your age. But I had no idea what I wanted to do. I took my LSAT and scored highly but didn't want to go back to being a struggling student/single mom and did not go to law school. I have worked in promotional modeling, nightclubs and high end retail. I have been lucky to actually find lucrative positions, I live in a city where you can make a great living at these careers, but none of them actually used my degree. I am glad I have it though. Now I am at the point where I am over wanting a huge career that would involve more schooling. I will stick to sales/management in the future and be a SAHM for a few years.

DH and I are 23. We were 21 when ds#1 was born. I went to college for 3 1/2 years and got certified in multiple thinsg but never got my degree because I couldn't figure out what I would want to do. Now I've been a SAHM for a couple years and its the best decision I ever made. DH has a good job that makes us fortunate enough to be able to do this.
That was what kept me away from teaching in the first pace! (the part about them being so close in age to me). But, that was so silly! You will keep aging and they won't!! Plus, there is a huge difference between age 20 or 21 and 17 or 18. And that's if you teach seniors. I teach mostly freshmen and sophomores. Go for it!!
You don't have to know what you want to do the rest of your life at any age, IMO. Just take it one step at a time. Right now you're a mommy! :-)
I'm 32 and will be when LO comes.
I'm a pre-k (preschool teacher.) I have a degree in early childhood, but for years I always thought that I should be doing something else. I keep going back to school thinking I want to do something else, but I love what I do, and it took me a decade to realize I'm where I need to be. Life is full of unexpected twists and turns. That's what keeps it interesting!
I will be 27 when LO arrives and, as long as LO is on time, DH should also be 27.
Unlike a lot of people, I knew what I wanted to do when I was in high school and chose the college I went to based on the program I wanted. I was 24 when I graduated with my doctorate. I am still in love with my career choice, just saddened by the fact that I cannot have more time with LO since DH is now in school and I support our family.
He, on the other hand, still doesn't know what he wants to do. My biggest encouragement for him is that he find something he enjoys; it is no fun to be stuck in a career path that may make a certain amount of money or is prestigious but where he is utterly miserable.
I'm a FTM and will be 34 when I deliver. I didn't plan to wait this long but it took us a long time and some help from science to get pregnant.
I will be 27 when LO arrives (my birthday is Jan 10 so she is my belated birthday present!). DH is, and will still be, 32
I know what I want to be, a SAHM, however unfortunately in this country and climate, I can never ever see it happening. Instead I am constantly trying to figure out what I would like to do to still earn a wage and some what enjoy - I currently see work only as a means to an end, nothing more
First... (doing math in my baby brain head) 32 I think?
Now, i am 35.LO is comeing while I am 35, DH is 40.
Dont let us fool you. Me, I have been a dog groomer for around 10 years, and in the pet industry(retail) since 5 years before that. I sort of "fell into" my career. your 21, you have time. Figure out something you enjoy doing, think long and hard about what it would take to become a pro at it then think about college.
