I just got off the phone with my OB's medical assistant, and she basically told me that my b/w and u/s showed PCOS. I have an appointment with the doctor on Dec. 22nd to discuss the results in detail and to formulate a plan...
I am heartbroken! After getting pregnant on my own twice (ended up m/c both), I figured it would happen again.
My cycles have been getting shorter, which I mentioned to her at my annual last month, so she ordered testing.
Sorry for the random posting, just looking for some support form people going through the same thing...
Re: PCOS
So sorry to hear this news, I know it must be tough.
If it is not to insensitive, can I ask you a few questions? I have had 2 m/c to, and am wondering what symtoms of PCOS you have? I have long cycles to...
Thanks..

I totally agree with Ghost Monkey! At my old OB (before switching to the current one which I love) I felt like they just wanted to label me with a problem to slap a band-aid over the problems I was having with my cycles.
I too found a lot of great information and support from Soul Cysters! Try not to stress too much - a lot of women overcome PCOS and go on to have healthy children! I have it...and I'm trying my hardest not to let it defeat me.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!
Good luck hun, don't stress!

Thanks for the recs, GM. I have googled it today, and A LOT of the symptoms fit, although I know that it doesn't necessarily mean I have it. I am hoping to get more info from my OB, but will probably just get a referral to a RE.
I am also planning on losing weight/exercising ASAP, as I have read that is the most helpful non-medical intervention. Thanks for the support ladies...
I'm sorry =( I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of fourteen. My last u/s showed my entire left ovary and tube completely covered with cysts and a few on the right. I'm currently working on getting an appointment with my doc to see what the latest is and what the next step needs to be. I remember how devestated I was when I was told at 14 years old. I can certainly understand your pain and sadness. I stopped BCP in August and my cycles are fairly long right now. Only time I had short cycles was on BCP, so not sure about that part of it. Keep us updated!
And I know this is easy to say but try not to get too down. My mom had PCOS and 4 children, sister PCOS and 2 kids, other sister endo and 2 kids. This what keeps my head and spirit up, knowing it isn't impossible. Just hard

Thanks for the reply. I get what you ladies mean about OBs not knowing/just throwing a bandaid on the problem, but I just don't get that impression from her... I will be checking out Soul Cysters! Thanks!
Very true. It can, however, complicate things. I hope that's not the case. On an unrelated note, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss...
it definitely can complicate things - but complications aren't always defeat.
