Thought I'd post this in a new thread, given it's slightly off-topic from your XMas request post.

Re: ***mrs. wildman*** and other book lovers
I'm glad you started this, as I have been looking for book recommendations! I have read a few of these as well, Dave Eggers' book being my favorite from your list. Here are my recs:
Three Junes, by Julia Glass
My Dream of You, by Nuala O'Faolain
The Ten-Year Nap, by Meg Wolitzer
Middlesex, by Jeffrey Eugenides
Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand
Valley of the Dolls, by Jacqueline Susann (sp?)
The Tipping Point, Blink, and Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell
I can't wait to hear more from others!
Amy
Oooo, thanks for this! I'm always looking for book recs. I haven't heard of any of these actually. Here's what I've read in the last few years---do we have anywhere close to the same taste in books?
Things by:
Jodi Picoult, Ken Follet, Augusten Burroughs; The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Series, The Help
YAY! Excellent Thread!
I'm currently reading my first non-vamipire, non-trashy novel in a loooong time. It might be one of my most favorite books I've ever read, but I'm not even close to finishing it.
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
I'm about to run to a meeting, but will come back and update with more later!
This is a good book - I enjoyed it too! It isn't on my list of faves, but I did like it.
I need to actually go put all my books in Goodreads. In my copious spare time....;)
Amy - I'm so happy to have your list! I've only read Middlesex, which I thought was amazing. I'll look up some of the others. Had heard good things about Unbroken. I read Eugenides' new book, The Marriage Plot, just a couple of weeks ago. I liked it, but it didn't blow my mind. It's definitely worth the read, but I don't know if I'd buy it or just get it from the library.

Excellent. I'm requesting this from the library now ...
