Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Any moms with 2 under 2...surprise positive prego test...

I honestly didn't want another child yet - DS just turned 1 last week.  Although I am somewhat excited and know that sometimes life throws unexpected things :), I am extremely nervous and kind of freaked out, really unsure how I am gonna be able to handle it all.  We've had unprotected sex maybe 3 times in the last year and apparently a total accident costed us another pregnancy :) Just trying to get some reassurance from other moms that I will survive :) I, too, get so nervous about being pregnant while DS is so young....my mind really is just all over the place right now.  I had a great L&D with DS but honestly not looking forward to going through all that all over again right now....just gotta remind myself to take it one day at a time I guess :)

  • Although it wasn't a suprise for us...we wanted another one and close together.

It will be OK!!! There are a ton of moms that have 2u2 and survive. Just think they will be close in age and also great friends.

I too, had my head all around in thoughts when it actually came out positive. We thought it wouldn't work on the first month we tried, and we only did it once. (The night before our dd b-day). I have written lots of posts on here with a ton of different emotions, ranging from happy to completely SCARED out of my mind about another child coming into the picture.

But as an adult you do what needs to be done and I am sure that we will BOTH live through it and when they are older and friends.....we will look at it as totally worth every second when they were little.

    Good luck

We're doing two, sixteen months apart. So I feel your anxiety. This one wasn't an accident, I just didn't think our first month trying would turn into a positive test (it took three years to get pregnant with DS). I'm anxious because I still have to carry DS around a lot, and he still needs me for a lot of thing. Oi-vey. :P

Hang in there! Parents have twins, triplets, and more and somehow survive...So we can too!

    This is exactly me too!!!!

  • Yeah I am not really sure exactly how far along I could be either considering I am currently working on weaning DS off of breastmilk so my periods haven't been regular at all so I really have no clue!

I would call the OB today and let them know. I am sure they will want to do an u/s to date the pg.....

  • I got an appt set up this morning for the end of December.  The lady seemed kind of like "Seriously you have no idea when your last cycle was?" But, they're so hit or miss I really have no clue.  I'm thinking a month ago (give or take some).  How soon does a prego test show up positive?

  • I had 2U1 and DS2 was a surprise.  I couldn't even really talked about it until the second tri.  It's normal to have those emotions.   I even had to see a shrink for a while.  You will survive and you won't know any different.  Having two kids is harder than one with any age difference.  The 2U2 board ladies are very supportive and there are lots of women who have survived it.
  • Yeah we found out the night of DD's first birthday. DH's really excited but I'll be honest I am ALL over the place right now. I think I am going to make an appt to talk with someone soon. It's tough but I know that it will be doable but I'm having a really hard time wrapping my brain around it this time.

  • We are planned 2u2 and I love it. The 1-2 transition was way easier for me than the 0-1. I'm sure you will do great! Congrats on your BFP!

  • We're expecting our second in March when DS will be 19 months old.  Ours was a bit of a surprise because it took us so long to have ds, but we are thrilled.  I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for the change and it's starting to sink in.  I think the first 6-12 months are going to be about survival and just getting the everyday things accomplished while trying to get some sleep and enjoy my two babies.  It's going to be hard, especially at first, but I think it'll be easier by accepting help from others and focusing on what's important and letting the little stuff go.  Best of luck!

  • You will survive! I have so far. My 2u2 are 16 months apart. It was little rough in the beginning. But once I got them on the same schedule and LO#2 STTN, it has been 90% easier. Just remember, everyday is different. I definately have more better days than bad days. I still nap when they nap.  But best of all, is seeing the bond between my 2 LOs. When they make each other laugh, and when LO#1 gives LO#2 a huge just because he wants to, that makes it all worth it.  Good luck!
