Potentially ridiculous question re: pampers

Color me dense, but I am still trying to sort out what is what with pampers varieties. There's "sensitive" which is what we've been using, "swaddlers" which I understand contain that controversial dry max stuff (though we used those at first and had no issues), and now I saw a variety at target called "baby dry". I dont get the difference. Can anyone enlighten me? Any discernable difference in your opinion re: absorbency and capacity? DS is a total pee monster, and soaks his diapers so thoroughly that I wind up changing him between his every 2 hour feedings (when he is also changed) a few times per day so I'm curuous what else is out there. Thanks for any info and insight.

Swaddlers and Baby Dry are shapped differently. Swaddlers are less boxy (if that makes sense) so they don't bunch as much in the crotch area.

They're all the same, dry max is in all of them. Just different marketing, I think. We use parents choice brand and they work fine (and are much cheaper). If he is soaking through at night, try the next size up for bed time.

Thanks--That helps to know. I'm hesitant to go up a size as he is so skinny that it's hard to keep the legs from gapping as it is.

Also helpful. He's skinny so we pull them up to get a good fit and the bunching at the crotch is an issue. Thanks!

A has skinny legs, and she did fine when I used this trick. I figured it was worth a shot, if they were too big it's not like they go to waste- just save them till he is big enough.

The Baby Dry kind resulting in leaking or blowouts every time we used one pretty much. We hardly ever have that problem with the Swaddlers. I'm a big fan. I think the Sensitive are the same as Swaddlers but made for more sensitive skin??

FWIW we have found that the Huggies Overnight diapers work better than the Pampers ones. I am 100% Pampers loyal during the day, but at night we use Huggies. There are also diaper inserts available for use in disposible diapers. The brand we use is Select Kids. They are cheap (30 for $3 something) and really help.

I also have super whizzers. At night we use overnight diapers, a size up, with an insert and they still leak a few times a week. Geesh!!

I haven't noticed much difference on the Pampers types, but we've used all of them, I think. Huggies leak badly for us, part of which I contributed to his super skinny legs. DS also has a long and lean torso, so going up a size doesn't always work for us. That being said, I did start putting him into size 3 Pampers overnight diapers at night. He does quite well in them and they don't leak, even when he gets up for extra feedings. In fact, one day this week I was shocked that it didn't explode as he'd eaten 10 oz more than usual overnight and also pooped right before he woke up. He's also currently in size 2s and will be for a while. They're rated to 18 pounds and he's 17. We can still touch and often overlap the tapes on him since he's still fairly skinny.

If you're going to flip brands, make sure to read the pounds on the package. Huggies tend to fit smaller than Pampers, meaning a size 2 in Huggies is not as big as a size 2 in Pampers. I've also found Huggies to be shorter lengthwise, which matters with my super-long torso baby. When he gets closer to the edge of their weight range, I start having problems getting his butt fully covered.

For just pee control, Luvs are ridiculously good. However, they do not have an elastic "damn" in the back, so poop blowouts happen easier than they do with other brands. DS doesn't normally poop at night any more, so Luvs are a potential nighttime option for us.

Swaddlers and Swaddlers Sensitive are softer and less bulky, a higher end diaper, if you will. They are the same diaper but the sensitives are made for babies with sensitive skin and do not contain dry max in sizes NB-2. Baby Dry is the less expensive diaper and do not contain dry max (none of the sizes do). Baby Dry is very similar to Luvs.

I have used either Luvs or Pampers ever since DS was born. Huggies (the Little Snugglers and the Snug and Dry) leaked awfully for us, so I returned or gave away the Huggies that I was gifted. I really liked Luvs and liked the price. When DS started wearing size 2's we switched to Swaddlers Sensitive and had no issues whatsoever. Now that he is in 3's and is crawling we use Pampers Cruisers. No complaints here either. I have not experienced any issues with dry max at all.

Now, I have tried the Huggies Little Movers and the Huggies Overnight and those work just fine. Just like a pp said, we are a Pampers family during the day but a Huggies Overnight family at nighttime. Try an overnight diaper in a size up to see if that helps with your little guy.

Your post just pretty much confirmed that I am going to have to exchange the 15+ packs of Huggies Size 1s I got at my shower. DD has long ass skinny legs and a long torso (she was 84th percentile for height at 1 month). Newborn Huggies did not fit her well at all.
Other than the poop blowouts, Luvs fit similar to Pampers right? (Are they made by the company who makes Pampers?)

I don't know if they're made by the same company. They seem to fit similarly. I keep thinking they're slightly smaller than Pampers, but I haven't done a side to side comparison. Just to warn you, you're going to think I'm high about the holding pee comment when you pull a Luvs out of the package. They're considerably thinner than Pampers, but they really do hold pee like the Hoover Dam. I've been shocked at how heavy they can get and still hold it all in.

We use pampers, I actually prefer baby dry once they get outta swaddlers.
