XP: Menstrual cups for really heavy periods?

(it seems like the green living board on the nest is dead) The last couple of cycles, my period has been so incredibly heavy that I have to constantly empty my diva cup and it leaks quite a bit too.  It fuckingsucks.  I have an IUD and just started having regular periods recently (I'm still nursing my 14 month old).  I had no issues with my diva between my two pregnancies (also with IUD).  I switched to heavy tampons for now, hopefully it works ok.  (and yes, I have the size 2 diva.  I wish they made a size 3.  omg, that is so wrong and pathetic, lol)

  • For the first few days of my period I have to change it constantly, and I have quite a few leaks. The same is true for super plus tampons, though, so I just figured it's part of the deal. Yay me. LOL!

GL. Let me know if you find a solution!

  • The few months that I had mine I experienced something similar. Hopefully it will work itself out eventually. Just empty frequently

  • I also have a very heavy flow (when I have my periods).  The Diva cups hurt too much for me to use, so I use the Instead cups.  I reuse them for a full cycle before they are thrown away.  Not as ideal as the Diva, but better than fully disposable tampons/pads.

Have you used washable cotton liner pads to help with leaks?

  • There is a new Meluna Cup that comes in an XL size. I have heavy periods too and I'm considering getting the XL "basic" (No stem) meluna. Right now I have a Lunette which I cut the stem off of but it's just not doing it for me. I also have several LadyCups which I love but on heavy days, they're definitely a no go.

The new meluna sizes have been pretty popular but it does look like they have some XLs in stock depending on what stem style you're willing to go with.

  • I should've also mentioned Meluna has two options for cup stiffness. They have their classic and they have a soft version.
