Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Dumb ? re: crib mattress

Alright, here is my dumb question #3435

When do people typically flip the mattress from the harder side to the softer "toddler" side.  My kid is 13 months. Do I do it now or wait more time?  When did you flip sides?

Re: Dumb ? re: crib mattress

  • I just flipped it the other day because I felt like I should even out the mattress.  I didn't know there was an age that this should be done.

  • I was told to flip it when we converted to a toddler bed so that's what I did.  To be honest I couldn't tell the difference and I really don't think Olivia did either.  We have the Colgate 2 in 1.
  • I flipped it when she was one years old. To be honest, I am not sure what the difference was. I hope that for the first year she was on the baby side but I really don't know.

She loves her bed either way. She didn't notice a difference. IMO

  • E's mattress says to flip it over when she hits 35 lbs. I haven't flipped yet mainly because she is still in the crib and it is a pain just to change the sheets. Like the PPs, I cannot tell a difference and I doubt she would either, the child can sleep on anything.

  • I'm not sure one thing has to do with the other, but I flipped it on Thanksgiving break when I washed the sheets and he started STTN. Ours is noticably softer on one side though and he's used to bedsharing with us.
