3rd Trimester

A little freaked out about measurements!

Hey everyone!

So today I was visiting with my mom and she decided she was going to pull out the measuring tape to see how big around I am. She measured me and apparently I am already 50.5 inches around at the belly button and I'm only 6 months!! Although before getting pregnant I already had some chub on my tummy my mom thinks I'm gonna have a 10 pounder, and said all this stuff about me probably needing a c-section because the baby is going to be too big and she kind of freaked me out!

Just curious to see how everyone else is experiencing this, do you find our bump to be massive? haha I love knowing its big so my baby is healthy, and I've kept track tracing it on paper since I got pregnant and it doesn't look to me like it's gotten that large. I'm just completely freaked out cause this lovely little boy has to come out somehow! haha

Thanks for reading my rant! haha

  • I haven't measured myself at all, but you made me curious so I just did and I am 50.5 around at the belly button too!
  • I'm sorry but that is not even true :( you a. are probably GORGEOUS and b. the size of the baby has very little to do with the size of your tummy ( placenta size, amount of fluid, how far forward you carry your uterus etc. has WAYYYYY more to do with it ) that being said I have had two 9 lb babies and they've both been chunky and healthy and the best little nursers ever. You're going to be just fine <3 don't sweat it. Just sit back and enjoy it mama

  • Yeah, don't listen to your mother. The fact she measured you around the stomach is just the start. When dr's do measurments they measure vertically from your pubic bone to to top of your belly.Around means nothing.

Also, even if you do have a 10 lb baby does not mean you will need a c-section. I had my son vaginally and he came out weighing 11lbs 7.5oz. He was huge.

Let your mom freak out in her head but don't freak out in yours. It will be ok.
