Re: Anyone choosing to not have any tests done?

  • me and my husband decided not to get any testing done outside of an eeg due to me being high risk due to type one diabetes and having twins. We chose to not get the test done, because weve known multiple people whom have been told their child(ren) had a disorder like down syndrome, and they debated about termination and luckily they didnt go with termination and found out at birth they had perfectly healthy babies!! So in my opinion although sometimes accurate, they have been proven to me their rate of being false positives are higher then true positives, much less like i said before, it wouldnt change my mind any how , because each child is a miracle and not the a game of chance!

  • I never had any of the tests done. It is all about personal choice. If it doesn't matter to you either way if your baby might have Downs or another disorder you don't have to get the test.

I know that I have a history of Downs in my family, but I still did not care. I am having my baby either way, she will be loved no matter what!

  • This pregnancy we had no tests done-not even a blood test. I believe everything is fine. We did do the blood test and NT scan with my daughter and the percentage was super low. So this time we opted out.

  • I have done only the ultra-sound...I feel the same way.  Certain tests give false-positives, and most testing needs an amnio to confirm there is a problem, which I would refuse.  Keep in mind it is YOUR pregnancy, YOUR body, YOUR baby, YOUR choice.
  • My husband and I chose not to do any tests, there are several false positives and I really didn't want the stress of worrying if there was nothing I could do to change the situation. I am currently 25 weeks with my 2nd son and if anything is abnormal when he is born, I will love him just the same as I do my oldest.
  • I didn't have any test done. DH and I didn't think it necessary. Just like you say, we would still have our baby boy and raise him as best as we can, with the Lord's help. Either way, i still think it's been important for me to think that it can still happen even when we're both healthy, and there's nothing in our family histories, so I've read those sections in the books too anyway, because if it happens I wouldn't want to be completely unprepared...
  • I'm not having any tests done. Even if there did appear to be a problem I wouldn't terminate, and I would spend the remainder of my pregnancy stressed out.  I'm a teacher and see kids every day who have Downs Syndrome, etc and while yes it must be incredibly challenging to parent a child who needs much extra attention, its not the end of the world and they are absolutely incredible children!
