Scar healing question...

I'm 7 weeks pp and my incision scar has healed well, no "issues" with it but I got glued up (versus stitches), and the adhesive is still like 35% on the area, anyone else? The glue comes up if I rub vit E on it or gently scrub/peel in the shower but I don't like doing that because it's very sensitive/numb/weird and I don't like to touch the incision. It creeps me out. It's my 1st surgery ever and I hate the whole idea of being cut, anyway--that's a separate issue, lol. Has everyone else peeled their glue off already?

  • Also, just to add:

If you want to use vit e to help your scar heal better, the recommendation is to use Wheat germ capsules (it's pure vit E) instead of the liquid. I was told that the individually sealed capsules/softgels from the vitamin section will keep the healing properties fresh and not rancid and that the vit e you buy like massage oil is lacking any medicinal properties because it's already "turned", having been exposed to air. You just cut or bite the softgel and rub oil on the scar.

  • When I went in for my 8 week check-up, I still had glue on my incision.  My OB laughed at me and told me I could have peeled that off.  Instead, she did it for me.  It still kind of hurt to rub that hard on it to get it all off, so I was glad she did it because I was scared I might "break" something. :)  You'll be fine to peel it off if everything looks closed up.

  • With my first I didn't like to touch the glue either and it finally all came off around 8 wks. With the second I wasn't as nervous and I got it all off by 4 weeks.
