Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Broccoli-Carrot pancakes. So gross!

A is 8 months old and pretty much refuses to eat any baby food. She loves to feed herself finger food. She eats whatever we are eating. DH mentioned it to the pedi today and she mentioned mixing veggies/fruit with pancakes and letting her feed herself that.

So tonight I made broccoli/carrot/formula pancakes. The smell made me gag.

A LOVED it; Like it was the best thing she has ever tried. So completely gross! She couldn't get it into her mouth fast enough.

  • Interesting. So you just put the purees in pancake mix and it cooked normally? I think DD might like this.

  • Hmmmm. what made you come up with that recipe?

I do like putting veggies in spaghetti sauce, since that's one of the 5 things that Tiger will eat.

I think my DD will like this too.  Sounds gross but it's a start on teaching her to feed herself.

Sounds like a great idea - how did you make them?

  • I did simple Aunt Jamima (sp?) "just add water pancakes".

I boiled and mashed my own organic carrots and broccoli then just mixed it into the pancake batter and added 2 scoops of powed formula. I just added water until it was the "right" consistency.

So disgustingly gross smelling - but like I said, A could not get enough of them! Yum!

*You can't add the water from the carrots due to the potential for nitrite overdose.
