Contraction question

I am having cramping in my lower abdomen like right above my girly bits...sorry if thats TMI. I keep getting random sharp cramps but they aren't making my belly hard so i'm wondering if these could be the start of contractions?

    I get those too.  I asked my dr at my appt yesterday if I should be timing the cramp like contractions or the hardening contractions and she said only the ones where it hardens.

    I asked my doc this week about the sharp stabbing cramps/pains and she said it's baby's head hitting the cervix. She said the cramps are all part of your body getting ready.
