How do you handle DC's while out and about??

I hear most people talking about airing out their DCs between changes. But what do you do while you're out and about? Stick the used ones in wet bags or just wipe em off and put them back on the baby if they aren't poopy?

Re: How do you handle DC's while out and about??

  • If the cover isn't too wet, I will sometimes put it back on DS.  If it's pretty soaked or poopy, then I just throw it in the wet bag with the used diaper.  Unless we're traveling, we aren't usually out long enough for more than 1-2 diaper changes, so one extra cover in the diaper bag is usually enough.

  • I don't air DS out every change, even at home.  Out and about, I make sure I have a new cover with me in case the old one is really wet or poopy.  I just take off the old, put it in the wet bag, wipe him down and put on a new diaper and (if needed) cover.  I always make sure the diaper bag has a disposable or two just in case I run out of CDs.

  • We have a wetbag in the diaper bag. How I handle the diapers depends on which variety I'm using at the time. If I am using a pocket, I just toss it in the wetbag at changing time. If its a fitted and cover, I toss the fitted in the webag, and if the cover is OK, I reuse it, but I almost always bring a spare cover along. We use wool soakers and the occasional Thirsties or bummis.

I don't air Ethan's bootie out while out and about but I always air him out at home. I also keep a prefold on the changing table that I use just for dabbing off his rear.

  • sorry. DCs I mean to refer to Diaper Covers, not your darling child's butt.
