Back story: even though DH & I have been married for almost 4 years, I'm still not completely familiar with the myriad of Hindu deities. But DH is also not exactly well versed in how own religion. So, I've been reading up a bit & have found THE NAME (if we ever have a girl):
Durga.
Durga is the warrior aspect of the Mother Goddess in Hinduism (I already knew that). What I didn't know was the etymology of Durga, which is "dur" = "with great difficulty" & "ga" = "coming after". According to the book, Durga "manifests fearlessness and patience & never loses her sense of humor even during spiritual battles of epic proportion".
I figure if people @ my church can get away with christening babies named things like "Acacia Inlove" (I'm not kidding; this was published in the bulletin earlier this month) surely I can get my kid baptized in the Catholic church with the name of a Hindu goddess.
Re: Durga
It is the perfect name!
