So.....I found out this am that I failed the one hour test by 10 points...yes 10 POINTS. Needless to say, I am the least bit thrilled about it, but it is what it is. So, tomorrow morning I have the 3 hour test. I have to fast starting at midnight, but what I was unsure of was if what I ate for dinner tonight would effect the test results? I really don't feel like running to the store to get what I need for the dinner I had planned- spaghetti sauce with ground turkey and whole wheat noodles(it is raining cats and dogs here.) I have stuff here to make breakfast for supper. But, I was unsure if I ate a pancake if that would totally screw up my test, even though I'm going to fast at midnight?
Re: Will what I eat the night before my 3 hour Glucose test matter?
The effect of what you eat tonight will depend on whether or not you truly have gestational diabetes. If you do, then a carb-loaded dinner would likely lead to a higher reading tomorrow (where you would have failed anyway). If you don't have GD, then your body will do what it needs to, regardless of what you eat tonight.
Eat as you normally would! No need to make a special trip to the store. Good luck tomorrow.
Don't carbo load. I missed my 1 hr by 19 points (on the 140 scale). I thought I was being smart by eating a big bowl of salad and pasta. My reasoning was I wouldn't starve during the fast.
But I friggin blew it. So my suggestion would be protein and some veggies. I go Friday and I'm going to start a high protein/veggie meal plan for the next few days.

What are the instructions provided by your lab or doctor?
Mine had specific instructions on what to eat for the 3 days prior to the test. Including fasting for 12 hours before the test.
GD is not diagnosed based on what you had for dinner the night before. If you have GD, the 3-hour test will reveal it. If you don't, you don't.
If you have GD, you WANT to be diagnosed for the health of the baby.

I would eat normal, in my experience, what you eat typically will not alter your #'s unless you indulge in food high in carbs and/or tons of sugars. I am going to go out on a limb and say the average person doesn't (normally) eat that way.
I am GD and according to my doctor fasting should not be more than 8 hours so dont eat at 6pm and wait till 8am or later for your 3hour as you get hungry your glucose levels will rise. I am told to eat dinner and a evening snack before going to bed.
My body is not producing enough insulin at night therefore my body was working extra hard to meet the demands so LO's wouldn't have too. So I take 2 different types of insulin shots to the stomach, one at dinner and one at bedtime.
In the morning I test and have to take both insulin before breakfast.
