I just do not want to cook tonight, so I got to wondering if I am the only one who feels guilty for not cooking dinner sometimes. I am a teacher and I get home about 4pm. DH doesn't get home until 6pm. I feel like I should have dinner ready, but sometimes I just don't feel like it. [Poll]

Look! I put the diaper on the baby!
Me, always. DH and the kitchen do not get along. Recently I wasn't feeling well and asked him to cook up some pasta or something, and he looked at me blankly. I have no idea what he did before we moved in together. I don't mind because I enjoy cooking. And he ALWAYS does the dishes, which I hate to do, so I feel like it's fair.
I see your point, but you need a break now and then. I'm home before my hubby too and I used to always make dinner. Then we both blew up to almost 200 pounds, soooooo, now I eat 'linner' when I get home (I go to bed at 7, 7:30) and hubby fends for himself or goes to the gym.
I guess I'm a good cook?!...:)
Don't feel guilty. Maybe make two days a week 'fend for himself' nights. Teaching is a hard job and not respected enough.
Same here. No matter how crummy I feel, I know it'll be worth cooking dinner, because that means I'm out of dish duty! And he knows that if he doesn't do the dishes, he's not getting dinner!

I am the only one who cooks . . . but since getting pregnant - we've been getting takeout or eating out an awful lot b/c I couldnt find anything that sounded good to eat. I dont feel very guilty about it though, lol.
DH cooks dinner 98% of the time.
When we first moved in together, I tried to cook for him, and he was pretty disappointed in my cooking skills. We have a deal that you don't get to complain about something if you aren't willing to do it yourself, so he started cooking.
It's been five years, and I very rarely have to cook, even though I stay home now. In fact, I'm not sure if I could do anywhere near as good of a job as he does. I do all of the baking, but that's only junk food.
The only dishes he's supposed to wash are the cast iron, but I always end up washing them anyway.
This. DH is in charge of weekend pancakes too & usually cooks at least one of our weekend suppers.
A15 January Siggy Challenge-
I always cook dinner, but I also SAH. When I was working, I always cooked dinner too, but we always had frozen pizza once per week and got take-out or went out to eat about once per week as well. That helped a little bit. Dinner also wasn't always ready by 6. Sometimes we wouldn't eat until 7 or 7:30. Of course, that was before DS was born and when he wasn't eating solids so it didn't really matter what time we ate.
