Nursery Haul!

This weekend we made an Ikea run and picked up the hemnes 8 drawer dresser, 2 drawer chest (a nightstand really) and the Ekenas chair and ottoman, AND we managed to fit in all in my Escape, with MH, me, my SIL and our weekend bedding and clothes!  It was a tight fit, but we made it!  Feels good to finally make some nursery progress, I feel so behind!

And our new kitchen is being installed today!!  Can't wait for our house to return to normal and to start Christmas and nursery decorating!!

Re: Nursery Haul!

  • I feel the same way! We're finally all moved in but now there is a ton of stuff to do getting the house ready. I just want to jump in and get it done.

  • Me too! I went to Ikea yesterday because they were having that sale on the expedit bookcase which I was already planning on getting for the nursery, so why not save $20! That was all I was planning on gtting but I ended up walking away with the bookcase, boxes for the bookcase, 2 Hopen dressers, curtain panels / rods, a lampshade and tons of accessories! Our nursery is really starting to come together now! Putting all that stuff together last night was not fun (and I still have one more dresser to go)! But I can't wait until it is all finished and there is a baby laying in the cutest little nursery ever!

We went to IKEA also and debated on purchasing the Ekenas chair. What do you think of it now that it is home? I am having a tough time deciding on what type of chair I want in the nursery and I thought this chair was very comfy. Do you think it will be easy to get in and out of? Thanks!

We were actually intending to get the jennylund chair, but they were side by side at the store and MH thought the Ekenas felt higher quality, and he wasn't happy with the slipcover look of the jennylund.  The chair is actually still in plastic in our garage, but the seat cushion isn't that deep, so I imagine it would be pretty easy to get in and out of with a baby in your arms.

We are actually going to put a swivel/rocker base on the bottom of the chair instead of the legs to make it into a rocker.  I've seen blogs where people do it to the jennylund chair.  We just got an old swivel rocker for free and are recycling the base.  There isn't a skirt on the chair, so you will be able to see the swivel legs a little, but I figure the ottoman will be in front of the chair most of the time anyway!

I know how you feel since we're doing a bunch of renos!  It's so tough not being able to do as much as you usually can.

I never thought about putting a different bottom on the chair, great idea. Because I would like a rocker but thought the chair was comfy and would be easy to clean. This would solve my problem, thanks for the information.
