Name change..wdyt of Gavin?

Liked Harlan but then I was getting a lot of mispronunciations and it also gets confused with Harland. So I think I found a better alternative. Gavin means white hawk and was also a knight of King Arthur so that seems like a strong name imo. But worried it might be too popular, it's #30 I think? but I read it was on the rise..

  • I definitely think it's on the rise, and it doesn't do much for me personally, but it's a fine name. I do prefer Harlan.

  • I love Harlan and Gavin. I think because Harlan is a uncommon name people aren't too sure of how to say it but my cousin Bryant went through that for a while with everyone pronouncing his name as Bryan but people caught on pretty easily.

Gavin is actually on the top of our list right now. I say you can't go wrong with either name.

  • Waaaaaaay too popular.  Sad... it's a nice name but I personally know 5 Gavins.

  • I like Gavin much better than Harlan which makes me think of Harley or Harlot. Gavin is a good strong name that will age well. Even if it is on the "rise" it is not super popular, like Aidan or Jackson. I think you will be just fine!

Wow really?! That's nuts...I don't even know one Gavin. I wonder if it is a regional popularity thing?

Probably.  I live in Los Angeles and it's a little bit of a "hipster" name out here.

  • I love Gavin.  It is probably one of my top 3 boy names.  It is popular, but there are plenty of names more popular.  I highly prefer it over Harlan.
