Taking off diapers at bedtime/naptime

DS has started taking off poopy diapers during bedtime/naptime.  We used to let him wake up and talk to himself for a little while but now we have to run in there when he makes a peep so he won't take off the poopy diaper and throw them out of the crib.  I told DH we should think about converting the crib so he can come out of his room and go to the potty but DH is scared shiitless of that transition. What say you bumpies?  Convert or not?

Re: Taking off diapers at bedtime/naptime

  • If he's taking off diapers because they're dirty, and he doesn't want to sit in them, I'd maybe also try potty training.  Jump on the wagon while it's circling around this time.  Of course to do that, it would be much much better if he were in a bed instead of a crib, so my answer to that would also be yes.  You have to do it sometime, you know?  If you think he's ready and being in a bed would help, then do it.  Worst case, you can always turn it back into a crib if it's a disaster.  ;)

  • We switched Cedric out of a crib at 16 months and he has done great.  I would try it.  We are also potty training now.  He is doing great with pee, not so great with poop yet.  I would go ahead and try both.  Sounds like he is ready.

He is actually potty training and has been for a couple of months.  I just haven't tried nap/bedtime because he still poops while sleeping.  During the day he will tell us he needs to go potty and is doing pretty well.  Thanks for the feedback.  I will tell DH that he needs to bite the bullet.  LOL
