anyone who had their galbladder removed

I had my galbladder removed 5 months after I delieved my first child. With my first pregnancy I had morning sickness all 9 months... but would puke and be fine...

With this one.. Im sick 24/7, cant keep anything down. I lost 7 lbs last week.. Yes I one week! I go to the dr tomorrow so she will tell me if there is something I should be doing...

But Im wondering If me being so sick and not being able to keep food down has anything to do with the removal of my galbladder...

anyone else?

Re: anyone who had their galbladder removed

  • I had my gallbladder removed.  It took my body over 2 years to adjust, my digestive system still isn't "right".  It is probably a combination of M/S and the gallbladder symptoms.  Make sure you get your pancreas enzyme levels checked.  Turned out mine wasnt working for 2 years and that is why I was losing weight and unable to process food. GL!

  • I had mine removed 7 years ago .. and not a single symptom until I got pregnant a few months ago. Now I have been having phantom gallbladder attacks. I have not however had any morning sickness and I am 12 weeks .. so I am thinking I wont.

    Hope you feel better!

  • I had mine removed about 2 years ago. I have had nausea but no puking for m/s - although the nausea is bad. I didn't associate this with my gallbladder though. I have had some phantom pains (I had all my gallbladder pain in my back) but not too bad. I am still on protonix for GERD, severe acid reflux and so far I haven't noticed anything too out of the ordinary for heart burn but the meds work well. First tri I still ate a lot of tums. Hope you feel better!

  • I had mine removed about 7 years ago, as well. I got phantom attacks for about 2 years after the procedure (not frequently...maybe twice a year). I'm definitely experiencing morning sickness, but haven't thrown up. Just nausea. My first instinct I was pregnant was the small almost gall-bladder-attack-like cramps that came and went. But, now it just feels like nausea.

I'm not a doctor, and if you have serious concerns, you should certainly see one. But, everyone I've ever spoken to who's had their gall bladder removed has complained of the symptoms for a while after the surgery.

Those attacks are the worst. I hope you feel better!

  • One other thing to add.. I noticed a bump above my belly button and went to my GI doctor. I have a hernia that is right behind where one of my incisions were from my gallbladder surgery :( She said sometimes surgery weakens the abdominal wall and with everything moving around in there from the pregnancy it has popped out. It doesn't hurt now, but I am scared it will start to when I get bigger. They can't/won't do anything about it now unless it becomes an emergency where I am in a lot of pain.
