Yes, your UO about signatures. YES! Yes, yes, yes. The scrolling past a ton of long freaking signatures gets old...especially on really long threads. Oy.
Omg I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I figure one ticker per child/event (marriage etc), and one picture or one line of pictures, appropriately sized. One poster on here has a pic that is so big I have to scroll to the side to see it. That's too big. Multiple tickers per child, a huge pic for each child, etc? Just annoying and it slows the board down.
Yeah I don't understand multiple tickers for each child, I don't understand tickers for pets. It used to be the "thing" to make the image for your signature by making a collage but they were small-ish photo's side by side. It was great.
Oh the good old days of shorter tickers and snarky boards.
Completely agree! I used to have a picture of DS in my siggy along with one line of text underneath. But when I added this larger ticker, I removed the picture because I felt that it was too much.
I can't stand people with a bunch of things in their siggy.

HA. Glad to know I'm not alone. Yeah, some of the sigs you see these days would have been toast back ye olden days of yore. I think people don't always understand the difference between bios and sigs (and I know that sounds snarky, but I don't mean it in a snarky way).
Hell, even the giant-ass bump badges with the pregnant woman or bump name badges would probably have been deemed too big back then (and they are quite large).

I guess I don't see what the difference is between a few extra key strokes of scrolling down to the next post, but I did go in and shrink my siggy pictures after this thread LOL. Wouldn't want anyone having to over-exert with the scrolling <grin>. I hate how you can't resize within your signature - like you can when you post pics on the board. Maybe you can and I'm missing it. It takes more effort than I realized lol.
It's just irritating when you have to do it over and over again because thebump posts the signature every post. On my laptop, large sigs can literally take up half the screen to the entire screen and it annoys me. It was also considered rude when I first joined message boards to have large sigs when the board had no option to turn them off, because it forces your images on others (repeatedly), and it makes it evident at work or elsewhere that you are on a public forum.
I wish thebump worked like other sites where sigs are only posted with the first post and then omitted, or that you had the option to turn them off.
I feel the same way about people who don't cut off quotes in long threads, fwiw. It's a hassle to delete all that stuff, no doubt, but it's so much easier to read when you don't have the ridiculously long chain of quotes in a long post making each post fifteen extra page downs long because no one can be arsed to only quote the pertinent part they are responding to. Just basic internet etiquette that is outdated or no longer considered important, I suppose (like generally typing full sentences, complete with appropriate spelling and punctuation in some places).
Also, those kids need to get off my lawn. My prize petunias are getting trampled. *shakes canes ineffectively*

I do know what you're saying about the quotes, though. Sometimes I am lazy and don't do the cutting - I try to bold in that case, but sometimes I am just lazy. Other times I do.
Add to what Eas just said {perfectly I might add}, that it takes longer to load the page when everyone has huge pictures and half a dozen tickers.
For all the people that hated the way the boards were 2-3 years ago...at least some of the things that bogged the board down, or made browsing more difficult, weren't such a problem.

Okay, so does anyone know what happened to the boards? My first time through the tri boards there was so much epic snark- same thing after LO showed up and I was on the age boards. I was not expecting the tone on first tri to be so... perky this time around. I know culture changes but I just didn't expect it to change so quickly and so drastically.

Well I know most of the people that I was friends with on the board, most of them aren't having babies, got bored with the boards, and when they come back the whole "power in numbers" thing wasn't true. I am still friends with a few of the old "mean girls" but most of them got a little....too mean. And I think for them {and me, although some of these threads and posts make the snarky b*tch in me want to come back out!} the snark sort of gets old and boring after a while.
I honestly find the boards rather...dull with out some snark and drama. And I was actually called a debbie downer when I told someone they probably weren't feeling their baby at 9 weeks. Two years ago she would have been harassed endlessly, but this time I am raining on her parade and I'm a bad person. How dull. lol
