OK, I am not a warm and fuzzy person. Case in point: I did not participate in the "What are you thankful for" thread...I'm thankful for a lot but it's just not my style to talk about it.
But I have to share this: at 11:30 this morning our doorbell rang and my wife and I gave each other this look that said, "Who the heck is bugging us on Thanksgiving morning?" On the doorstep were the two youngest boys from the big family that lives next door -- one of whom occasionally "helps" me with yard work and is just about my favorite little boy ever -- bearing a pair of chocolate chip-orange breads for us and a note from their family that said, "Dear A & S, We're so thankful for you!" My grinch heart officially melted. We're the only same-sex couple on the block (possibly in the neighborhood) in a relatively conservative (by Boston-area standards) town, and we weren't sure how people were going to feel about us when we moved in. These particular neighbors are VERY religious and let's be honest, sometimes that's not a great mix with the gays. In fact they have been nothing short of wonderful.
Here's hoping you're all celebrating the holiday surrounded by people who love and support you as you are!
