TTC-related: ovulation spotting? (TMI)
I've never experienced intercycle spotting until a few months ago and I've never experienced mid-cycle/ovulation spotting until now. It started last night when DH and I were having sex and he started freaking out because there was "a lot of blood." It was dark brown and stretchy in some areas where it had mixed with my EWCM. I was worried because that had never happened to me before, but did some Googleing and it sounds like it's normal though not common and could even be a GOOD sign. It does seem like a lot though... still all dark brown, maybe one or two tiny clots, and enough so that I need a pantyliner or maybe even a tampon... so at least equivalent to a light AF as far as volume if not the color.
Has any one else experienced this?
I'm probably ovulating right this second and it's SO maddeningly frustrating because DH is still freaked out by the whole thing and won't go near me. My temps, CM, OPK, EVERYTHING seems to be perfect this time and it's crushing me that this cycle might be wasted. And now I'm crying at work. Awesome.

He actually did try to rally and suck it up last night and again this morning but it just wasn't happening. I'm just ready to throw the towel in at this point, I don't know what else I can do.

He's freaked out? Why? He's never seen blood when having sex with a girl before? Am I the only one who's ever been having a good time only to realize after the fact that I've "started"? I mean, it's not sexy, but usually it's just one of those embarrassing "gotta wash the sheets now" moments. Most men are just happy to be getting some!
Have you been having lots of sex lately? Like more than usual? It could be cervical irritation causing bleeding and further intercouse knocked some of the clots loose. We occasionally diagnose what we call "Honeymoon spotting", which is really just too much sex without time for the body to heal in between. It can be painful too as some of us may have learned during more sexually active parts of our lives (ie before having kids!).
However, if we're talking your garden variety sex life, and there happened to be dark brown stuff around the time of ovuation - I'd say things look perfectly normal, even your DH's reaction if he's just squimish about stuff.
Totally TMI and you don't have to answer but... did he notice before he finished? Like he didn't finish the job last night and there's zero hope for this cycle? Because that would suck =(
I know that's happened to me before when AF has started... maybe it was before we started dating though.
We had a TON of sex during the last cycle (11 out of 12 days) but this time we've had sex just on Monday and it does not seem like sex-related spotting or cervical irritation because the blood is dark brown and was just suddenly there (I checked CM earlier that day and it was clear/stretchy). No pain at all except for a bit of a bloated feeling yesterday and today.
And yeah... he noticed before he finished last night and then we tried again right after that and again this morning. Hence my extreme frustration. But I don't want to talk to him about it too much because he's under enough pressure to perform already and feels bad about not being able to get the job done. I feel slightly better because of the sex on Monday (right after I got a +OPK) but my temps haven't gone up yet so I'm thinking that timing isn't going to cut it. I just texted him to see if he'd be up for a nooner but he has errands to run and my parents are probably going to show up at my house at 1pm.

Tell him to turn off the lights, and put on some baby making music to help keep his mind clear

I'm so sorry. I once made DH do the deed when we both had strep throat because it was a medicated cycle. He looked at me like I had 2 heads.
Hopefully this is your month! If the ovulation spotting becomes a regular occurrence, I would start doing the deed in the dark so he doesn't notice until after.
Lots of dust that your DH can handle it and get the job done! I would be so disappointed if I were you, but I also know that feeling/desire not to make him feel worse about it.
Although my DH is ok with sex during my period, so I'm surprised at his squeamishness. Granted, my period is light and we don't usually do the first day, but if you lay a towel down and have the lights off, it's not that bad. Or do it in the shower.
He says he is just happy to be getting any since it happens so rarely.
