Anyone doing it? I am thinking about it because I I really need to get a new car...I have a VW Beetle that is currently not working...but I still owe a LOT on it....I figure if they will give me a good sale price then hopefully that will soften the blow. I'm thinking about a Chevy Cruze (still small, but they have great gas mileage and are supposed to very spacious inside).
Any pointers or info that might help me? I tried looking on bfads.net but there weren't any dealership ads there.
Re: NBR: Buying a car on black Friday?
I've worked at a few dealerships. In my opinion there are always deals to be had. Extra special days (like BF or boxing day etc.) do nothing but add pressure and force people to make impulse decisions.
I think spending time doing your research both on a computer and going out and looking at cars in person will save you money in the long run, rather than just buying what seems to be a good flash deal.
Say Honda has a black friday deal but hyundai doesnt. You would probably buy the honda because you think you are getting a deal.. but really, if it were any other day you would buy the car you actually wanted, not the one you felt pressure to buy because of a one-day-deal. KWIM?
And FWIW there is very little markup in new vehicles. You are best to try to negotiate things like remote start, tint, etc. Literally, there is often only hundreds of dollars profit on a new car as opposed to thouands on a used.
I wish that was an option...repairs are going to be in the thousands, and I can't fit a convertible carseat in the back, so I will have to get a new car anyways. I'm not set on getting one on black friday, but it has to be in the near future...it is killing us only having one car.
Ditto. We bought my CRV last year at this time and got a great deal on it. The other good thing is they will be wanting to get rid of 2011 models because it is almost 2012. They are sill brand new, and you will get an awesome deal.
