Happy Friday, everyone!
After playing phone tag for the past three days with my various doctors, I finally got the go ahead to start Provera to end my 140 + day cycle!
(Happy dancing as I type this...
)
I got Provera that you take once a day for ten days.
I know that it is different for everybody, but I'm just curious to know how long it took to reach CD1 after starting.
I'm trying to plan ahead a little, being a teacher, and although I know I can't pinpoint it exactly, I'm just looking for a very vague ballpark so I can start thinking ahead for the CD3 bloodwork I need to have done.
Also - is it okay to have my SHG done while taking Provera? I will call my RE's office tomorrow to ask, but thought I'd see if any of you have had experience with that.
Thanks in advance, loves ![]()

Re: If you have taken Provera...
I'm not sure that it's the same for everyone, but I always get AF about 3 days after I finish taking Provera.
Not sure on the second question. Maybe I'm misunderstanding... did you mean HSG? If so, my RE had me do it around CD12.
Thanks for the info
I need an HSG and an SHG (sonohysterogram) and I wanted to schedule the SHG the same day I do other bloodwork because my RE is almost two hours away. I know I'll be on Provera if I schedule it the day I'd like to have it done, so I was just curious
Chemical Pregnancy
I usually get my period about 2-3 days after stopping progesterone. I'm not sure how SHG's are timed according to your cycle. I know that HSG's must be done when there is no possibility of pregnancy. I think mine was on CD6 or 7. I also don't think they'll do it when you're on your period, so if you are having CD3 bloodwork, I would doubt they would do the procedures on the same day.
**Edited: Just looked back and my HSG was on CD11.

OK, I think I'm confused.
If you want to have your SHG done on the same day as your CD3 bloodwork, you will no longer be on Provera, so that wouldn't even be a worry. CD3 would be the third day of your period, which you should get once you withdraw from the Provera. So ten days of Provera, then you should get your period once you stop the medicine. Then CD3 bloodwork, and then SHG once your period has stopped.

Sorry if I confused you! I was confused because the nurse said that it is different for everyone and I could get my period within a day or two of starting the Provera, or it could be up to two weeks after stopping the pill. From what I've read from everyone who has responded on here (and TTGP) everyone has started CD1 after completing the pills.
Sorry if I confused you! Thanks for the info!
Chemical Pregnancy
It's OK. I think your nurse is wrong. I think your period comes b/c of the withdraw from Provera, not the actual drug itself...

I think so too! What you've said makes perfect sense. Thanks love!
ETA: I could have misheard...perhaps she meant it could come anytime between 2 days and 2 weeks after the last dosage. Either way, thanks! Haha
I don't even remember now because that day was full of so much information!
Chemical Pregnancy
I know, right??? It's like we hear maybe 25-50% of what they actually say.

If there's one thing I've learned while waiting my turn,
it's that in each life some rain falls but you also get some sun.
After 2 years & 2 losses, our little man arrived 8-2011.
I would typically get AF 3 days or so after the last pill. However, it has also taken up to a week for me before.
Good luck!
