My mom had been told by a Columbian woman the name of a product that helped her bring in her milk supply when she thought all hope was lost...she told her we could get it at Compare (a Mexican grocery store in our area), but we can't remember the name of it!
Here's what we do remember...
It starts with a P (I want to say something like Panella), it's traditionally used in Columbia by nursing mothers to establish milk supply, She said to ingest it by mixing it with milk, I believe it's kind of like a sugar of some sort, and it's supposedly inexpensive.
If you know what I'm talking about fill me in! I'd like my husband to pick some up on his way home from work if I can remember what the crap is called
Also, if you have any experiences with whatever it is I'm talking about feel free to share!
Re: Help me remember what this stuff is called...
I just found this on another site:
"I have two kids; one is 2 and the other is 11. I am from Colombia. In Colombia breastfeeding mothers drink something called, "agua-panela con leche". It's made with an ingredient called "Panela" that's found in most Publix or Winn-Dixie in the hispanic section Usually with the "Goya" items. It's basically brown sugar that's in the form of a very thick pancake (like a brick). You break the "panela" into 4 equal pieces. You place it in a saucepan over the stove and put on medium heat and then pour whole milk over the "panela". Approximately 2 cups of milk. The "panela" will melt as you stir the pan. You drink it warm to hot. You need to either feed or pump as your drinking or immediately following and in my experience, I had plenty of milk for my kids. Hope it helps!"
This is it! thanks a ton!
