I think its crazy that all these places are opening at midnight on black friday- I mean 5 am is early enough- and some of the places opening at 10pm- its totally infringing on thanksgiving...

and it makes me sick- I'm all about presents and gift giving but this is ridiculous

    agreed.  I just don't get it.  I've never wanted anything that bad to get up that early and go stand in line.

    Amen! It's so sad. DH refuses to and won't let me ever shop on a major holiday- to buy anything. He said he won't give his money to businesses that force employees away from their families on holidays.

    I agree. I feel very bad bof the employees.  at least for me I knew what I was getting into when I started work and then when I got transferred to a 24 hour store.  But really does carter's need to open at 9 pm?  Those places would be just fine waiting until the next day.  Why is everyone trying to open at the same time.  In my opnion it makes more sense to have the stores staggered that way people can get all hte deals.

    On the Today show they asked a panel this question and I think the guy said people are happy to work it.  No they are not.  Come to my store on Thanksgiving and you will hear me b!tching about having to work.

    It is really unfortunate and the part that is even worse is that people have to get ready for those types of big sales, so I am guessing many people (management, etc) will be working a very long day on Thanksgiving rather than maybe going in for the few hours in the evening that already seems crappy.

    My Dad is a retail manager.  Thankfully his store isn't open on Thanksgiving, but he has to be there after close on Wednesday to set up for Friday's opening and he also has to be there Friday morning at opening.  That means that my parents are driving 2.5 hours each way to my house and back on Thanksgiving day instead of coming Wednesday night like Mom had hoped.

    TTC since 6/2003. m/c 9/14/03 8 weeks, 5 chemical pregnancies, mmc 6/04 12 weeks, Michael born sleeping 5/25/05 at 22weeks always our angel, fought ovarian cancer and won, m/c 4/06 5.2 weeks and 7/07 6.6 weeks,Our Miracle baby girl born 4/8/10,mc 12/18/11 at 5.3 weeks, BFP 10/26/12 dating u/s on 11/8/12 showing a strong heartbeat!EDD July 4,2013. RCS on 6/27. Baby boy in NICU for 8 long and scary days before he was able to come home. We are now a happy family of 4
