When do you tell your parents & in-laws?

So I JUST found out we are pregnant yesterday! When did people tell their closest family?

In laws are in town this week for Thanksgiving but we have decided not to tell them. We haven't had our first OB appointment (it's at our 8w1d mark 12/9). We decided to wait until Christmas to tell both sets of parents.

Congrats! We've told my mother, but are only telling DH's parents at Christmas (I will be 10 weeks).

I am just over 6 weeks and we are telling our families on Thanksgiving and our friends on Friday. We are telling our friends because of previous commitments (volleyball).

We told my parents at 5 weeks (they happened to be coming into town then). The ILs didn't find out until 6 weeks because they wouldn't call DH back! Last time we didn't tell them until 10 weeks, but I am ok with them knowing early this time.

We decided to tell all our family and friends at Christmas. Although I would prefer just to tell family at that time but my MIL makes it her personal mission to broadcast everyone's personal business Confused

so we have no choice. My SIL (on my side) is hosting Christmas Eve and we are all going so, we will prob tell my IL's b/f we go, call my dad @ that time too and just tell my SIL & her husband when we get to her house. Close friends we will call on Christmas afternoon and then just let the word get out from there.

I told my mom this weekend. I was about 6.5 weeks. I didn't tell her about my last pregnancy and she found out from my sister when I was having a miscarriage. I felt horrible for not having told her. I wanted to make sure she knew as she is so supportive to me (she understands all my anxiety). We aren't telling my Dad and step mom and dh's parents until Christmas time. My sister knows b/c she guessed, she always does!

We already did, but we were open about our IVF treatments....so they knew when we would be finding out. I personally would prefer to have the support if anything were to happen.

Just after the six week mark my parents, in-laws, and siblings all found out. It was just getting silly to keep the secret. Plus, I wanted their happy celebration now, and support if anything goes wrong.

We were gonna wait till Christmas, but DH and I are terrible at keeping secrets and DH could not figure out how we would explain the fact that I'm not drinking on Thanksgiving. Even if I'm the "sober driver", his parents would insist I have a glass of wine with dinner. - The family, including me, likes our alcohol...;) - Really, me not having a drink is considered out of the ordinary -

My brother and his fiance will be in town as well, so we figured it is best just to tell everyone on Thanksgiving. We will stress the fact that it is still very early in the pregnancy and we have not had our first appointment yet, so please don't tell anyone till we give the ok.

Guess this will be a great test to see if we can trust them to keep their mouths shut...;)

We told our parents and our other members of our ivf support network on beta day since they knew it was test day. It happened to be the last night my parents would be in town and I really wanted to tell them in person, even if it was still early in the process. We went out to dinner with my parents, his mom and his aunt and told them there. Later that night my dad said he figured it was going to be good news because when I came home from work I wasn't moping and he knows his baby girl would be moping if it was bad news because that's how I've always been! Lol! he didn't want to ask because he figured I would tell him eventually. My coworkers that knew I was doing ivf have figured it out because i wasn't moping. Yep, I'm an open book and would not make a good poker player at all!

I told my parents the day after we found out, mainly because I need their encouragment and support after having a last loss last year. We haven't told the in-laws yet. They live around the corner, but I'm not nearly as "close" to them as I am with my family. DH plans to tell them on Thanksgiving day.

We told the IL's this weekend (6 w) and my mom last night. Probably would have waited longer but I am clearly not feeling well and we're seeing them this week. Plus they knew about our m/c. The rest of the family we will probably tell after we hear a h/b.
