Babies: 6 - 9 Months

anyone's 8 monther NOT LOVE food yet??

i was reading in the baby book "week by week" that at this age he should be eating like 3x more than he is eatong. it said 2-3 servings of fruit, 2-3 servings veg, 2-3 TBS of meat, 2-3 servings of grains. 2 crackers, 2 cheese or yogurt...etc !

im lucky if i get 4 oz of 1 thing 2-3 times a day !

he still takes almost 40 oz of breastmilk but i try to space it out to make him "hungry" for food.

anyone else having "trouble" getting LO to really get into solids & eating?? i hope that there is nothing wrong... i really dont know what i could do to heighten his interest.....

he also has little interest in slop. he wants solids, like SOLIDS.

  • Aubrey still eats very little solid food. I try to feed her different things at each meal - a fruit, grain, and veggie - But she may get three or four baby spoonfuls of mush and a cracker. Most everything ends up in her high chair :)

  • Mia still doesn't really like oatmeal and purees.  She will eat them, but it take awhile and she isn't super motivated.  I just started giving her cubes of cooked sweet potatoes and she loves those, she likes grapes in her mesh feeder.  Well, and anything that is a finger food (puffs, cheerios, etc.).  I think her "baby food" stage will be very short.

  • DD hates solids.  We've tried all the good stuff and she gets maybe 3-4 teaspoons before she starts spitting it out or fussing. I swear, yesterday, she leaned over her highchair and spit it out on the floor.  She will eat cookies and small pieces of bread though.

  • DD has very little interest in anything besides her formula.  Just in the past week she has started to take several baby spoonfuls of baby food during "meals" but still not too into it!
  • My DD will be 8-months next week, but she doesn't "love" her pureed. She'll take about 1-oz of pureed orange veggies at dinner; and this is an orchestrated effort on its own. She loves nursing; and she still nurses w/ me 5-6 times/day sometimes more and only drinks about 9 oz of BM at daycare. She doesn't appear "hungry" or "need more"; so my pedi isn't worried. And she has enough wet and dirty diapers and gaining weight.

  • My dd is only 7 1/2 months but hates solids.  She spits it out every time.  I have tried everything.  The only thing she'll eat are green beans- and only a few bites.

My dd has dropped from the 80th percentiile to the 14th percentile since her birth so that is the only reason I worry about her not eating solids.  If she was maintainig her percentage, I wouldn't give it another thought.  Someone else mentioned her pedi said as long as she has wet diapers and puts on some weight, he isn't concerned - my pedi said the exact same thing.
