LO pooped 6 times the day she was born and then didn't poop again for 6 days plus dropped almost a fell pound from her birth weight. Not good. We saw a LC who examined latch and hooked us up with a nipple shield. LO latches beautifully with it. We started on a grueling routine. Every 2 hours - nurse for 15 min each side, pump for 10 minutes, offer bottle. Well, she just pooped for the 3rd time today (she pooped at least 5 times for the last 4 days!!)! And she's taking less and less from the bottle, sometimes even refusing, which I hope means she's nursing effectively. Here's hoping for a good weight check on Wednesday!

Re: It's working!
Yay! That's awesome. I used a nipple shield for one day in the hospital and it really helped us to get the hang of it.
Also, our little one hadn't pooped for a few days and my best friend (who is a family practice doc) recommended putting a little diaper cream around her bottom and massaging it. It seemed funny, but it definitely worked!
I never thought the day would come when I would understand the excitement around pooping, peeing, farting and burping! Haha.
That's great things are looking up...I hope the weight check goes well and things continue to go well!
Awwww. That's cute
