My sister is getting married next July (YAY!) and we are looking for places to try on dresses. She has an appointment at Trudy's already and is not interested in a place like Elegant Lace (where I got my dress).
I got mine (and my sister's BM dress) at Bella Mia Bride at Westgate Mall.
Me too but I didn't have a great experience. They quoted me a price and then wouldn't honor it (but they did discount and throw in a veil which is why I went with them instead of Bay Area Bridal which I liked the best of the places we visited)
I "shopped" at Trudy's and Elegant Lace, but bought my dress from discountbridalservice.com for 30% less. Sadly DBS ran out of business, BUT there are tons of other very reputable like services.
BTW, I really didn't enjoy my experience at Elegant Lace at all. I was told to "go look at the racks for something I like" which is overwhealming when you've got 2000 gowns stacked up.
Trudy's was TONs better. I feel a bit bad I didn't buy through them given their awesome customer service, but I saved over $300, and that's nothing to laugh at.
Interestingly enough though, although Trudy's was really awesome with their bridal customer service, their bridesmaid customer service left a lot to be desired.
I got mine at Trudys and had a wonderful experience.
My sister bought hers at Gabriellas in Los Gatos and that place is amazing. Super high end - but when she picked up her dress they did a champagne party with appetizers for the entire bridal party!! It was so much fun!! Maybe they just build that into the cost of a 6K dress

I am sorry to hear that.

I went to Trudy's, had a great experience...ended up buying my dress at another great shop closer to me in Sacramento, but I definitely recommend Trudy's.
My SIL got her dress at Gabrielle's....she fell in love with a Melissa Sweet and they carry that line. They are very competitive for the mid-to-high lines that they carry.
I personally had a HORRIBLE experience at Bay Area Bridal...my Mom got her dress there and her experience was so bad that I try to steer people away from this place.
my sisters dress was a melissa sweet! how funny!! oh and my only word of advice is if you go to gabriellas try and get your fittings done elsewhere. when all was said and done, i think my sisters alterations cost around 1K. yikes!
Shopped at Trudys (ok), some place in Fremont called Wedding Superstore (yuck), a couple of boutiques in SF (okay, but $$$) and got my dress at Amy Kuschel in SF in the end. There is a new Priscilla of Boston boutique at Santana Row, never been there but I'm guessing they have dresses to try on.
Had the good experience/service and found the dress at Trudy's. But saved myself $200 by walking into Elegant Lace and just telling them that if they had the same dress in stock, I was going to order it then and there. So best of both worlds in a way. I didn't feel bad about it since the whole wedding industry tries to squeeze money from every direction.
Another Bella Mia bride here...I found mine at Trudy's but my experience was SO BAD at Trudy's that I ended up getting it elsewhere. Trudy's even tried to bar me from purchasing my gown from Bella Mia by telling the designer they would no longer carry their gowns. But I got on the phone with the designer (LOVE Henry Roth, very charming man) and said that I felt they should honor my purchase as the dress was available when I was originally purchasing at BM. He agreed and I was the last person allowed to buy that particular gown at BM.
Trudy's will cut your appointment short if they run over their other appointments. 2 times I had appointments and 2 times they were 30 minutes late and cut my hour to 30 minutes.
Bella Mia always made time for me, and was just so nice and always remembered my name, etc. They also charged $600 less after everything was said and done for the same dress.
I went to Elegant Lace...horrible experience. Like Ava said...they make you pick out the dresses which is overwhelming and the sales girl was short with me. I also had what she said was "higher budget and dress expectations that they carried." I thought that was a crazy thing to say.
I have heard amazing things about Penelope at SR and Gabriella in LG (but I believe their gowns start at $3-6k)
