When you shower do you shut the water off while you are shampooing and conditioning your hair or do you let the water run?

Re: Settle a debate (NBR)
This. AND I live in Florida. Maybe I'm a horrible person but this has not once ever crossed my mind.
this is where I'm at. Apparently you can save a ton of money if you do this over the course of a couple years. I just think I'd rather pay the money and not freeze my butt off.
Is it any more stupid than a million other random poll posts? I happened to have this debate at work this morning. Most people said they shut the water off, I didn't believe that many people could possibly stand freezing their cheeks off, so I posted about it here. I did mention that it was non bump/baby related. You opened it knowing that. So don't complain.
Is this coming from Phillbert or someone else?
people do this?
I turn the water off while brushing my teeth - but never in the shower. And I live in FL!
I guess they did a whole segment on NPR about it and people were chatting it up in the teacher's room. I was very surprised by how many people claimed to shut the water off.
I must live under a rock, I've never heard that term before!
Ok then I don't have to side eye him when I see him :-p Seriously though, I'd rather go to bed early or read by candlelight to save on electricity than shut my water off mid shower. I think I'd waste more water screwing around trying to get the temp right. And it's not like any of us are Rapunzel and it takes more than 30 seconds to shampoo our hair.
I'm not sure if it's common knowledge - my Dad was in the military and I remember him telling me about it.
dude this is what I'm saying. How long is the shampoo actually in there? I guess some people even shut it off while shaving. Can you say "Hell No!" Thats the last thing I want to do while shaving!
I click sometimes.
If DH showers before me and there is not a lot of hot water left i will shut it off while shaving or shampooing so I don't run out of hot water. I would rather it be off while shaving than on and freezing cold while rinsing my hair.
that is the only time I do that though
LOL This. I was like wait what? People do this? I mean it takes me less time to rinse my hair than it does to shut the water off.
I think most people on here are intelligent enough to figure it out. And most people are intelligent enough to answer two questions.
This right here.
Unable to even.

We do this in the camper. The fresh water tank isn't very big, and it takes a long time for me to rinse the conditioner out of my hair. If I didn't turn the water off, we'd run out of water before the weekend was over. It does suck though. I get so cold while I'm washing!
Oh, and thinking about it, some campgrounds have shower houses like that. Like the sinks that you have to keep pushing the hot and cold "buttons" down. That way it doesn't waste so much water. You have to keep pushing in the button every 30 seconds or so. It's horrible!
This. I didn't think people did this anywhere other than at that hippie festival in the desert...

I yell at DH when he keeps the water on while brushing his teeth. I call him a fish murderer and tell him that 100 fish lost their lives because he left the water on.
At home/hotel/etc? HELL NO!
But at my friends and grandparents houses in VT (same area), we do because they're on limited water wells. ARMY SHOWER!
Oh, and at our cabin where we only have a 6 gallon hot water heater. It gets ice cold before I can rince the conditioner out if I dont shut it off between!

True story:
When I lived in Saint Petersburg (Russia), the city "fixes the pipes" every year. So there is no hot water. Every flucking summer. You could heat it and dump it in the tub, but I'm not a bath person-- blech.
So you bet I turned the water off when I was living there.
actually it does.
