At what age do they "get into" Legos?

People keep asking me about getting ds Legos or other building type stuff for Christmas/birthday. He turns 4 in January. We have a few hand-me-down Lego sets of various sizes and is completely uninterested. Right now he's all about matchbox cars and construction equipment.

I think every boy is different but for us it was 4. His preprimary class had a lego table and tons of legos and that's all the boys did! He loves to build with them now and his interests gravitate - last year it was lego knights and this year it is the ninjago's. My son never got into construction or matchbox... Every boy is different I guess!

For us my older one got into them at 5, my 4 year old has always been a builder so he started getting into them at 3.5 probably?

For us it was at the 5th birthday. He's still not a Lego fanatic but he likes them enough. My MIL bought him a large Lego City kit, and it's more than enough. He still prefers Matchbox cars.

I think this is the perfect age but are just now getting Legos for DS (turns 5 on 12/28) because we also have a 15 mo old who is finally over the putting everything in his mouth stage...

DS just really started getting into Lego's this past year. He has about 7 different lego sets on his Christmas list. Not gonna happen buddy!

He has even asked for a Lego themed birthday 5th birthday party.

DS got into legos when he was 4 and continues to ask for them. recently, he has been asking for the harry potter and star wars legos.

DS1 got all the McQueen Lego Deuplos for his birthday, while he likes them. He isn't all about them. He will play with those and Megablocks on occasion.
