DS won't nap and our day was CRAZY!!

One more hour tell DH is off work. This morning started out awesome, DS was in a great mood and we had a nice breakfast, read books, and he "helped" me with laundry. But then for some reason he REFUSED to take a nap, I tried for over an hour and he would not sleep. We had a dent lunch and went outside to play. When we came back in he lost it.

 He threw himself down when I tried to take off his coat off after outside timeand hit his head Sad and basically did not want me to put him down. He signed "eat" so i gave him some water and a snack and he threw them on the ground. I needed a shower since he did not nap this morning so I let him in with me and he begged to be held the whole time. Then he refused his 2nd nap and is now clinging on to me as I vent here.

 I can't win with him today.I hold him and he cries and pushes me away. If I put him down with toys he cries and clings on to my leg,  I love him SO MUCH but Mama needs a break. I have no idea why he is having the nap strike today but he usally is so happy and today he is so grumpy and clingy.

Any tricks for a young toddler on a nap strike?  We have got NOTHING done today and we are both going crazy.

Edited to add that I have a cold, I can live with that...but if DH comes home feeling sick I will scream. LOL, because he will literally come in and tell me he is dying from the sniffles and I will have two people to take care of...  I want ice cream and wine!!!!

    Put him to bed at least 45 min early tonight and don't let him get into an ugly overtired cycle. I'd try nap time a little earlier tomorrow but does he still take two naps? He may be transitioning to one. Don't worry. He will nap again.

    I'm sorry you had a hard day.  I've had to wrestle dd down to nap several times this week.  It is no fun for either of us.

    Have you tried ice cream with red wine - float style - it is delicious!

     

    Oh my goodness i have not! I never thought of that!
