Trouble TTC

limpetfan & jezebell

So the conversation about St. Barnabas made me realize that the insurance I am switching to covers all of NY and part of NJ.  Sure enough - I look up their list of preferred providers and it looks like they are one of them!   So now I'm wondering if they should be my new back-up plan if I do a cycle at Strong in Rochester and it doesn't work out.   Since the IVF would be covered - then even the cost of travel/hotel would still make the trip worth it. hmm....

  • I was reading on their website that they work with long distance people all the time, and you can often arrange it so you only go to NJ for ER/ET.  I actually just went and requested my medical records from my current clinic -- I figure DH and I will either consult just with St. B, just with SIRM, or both, before we decide about cycling again next year.  Hopefully they can get us in quickly for consults!

I think it would be a fantastic back-up plan for you to use St. Barnabas if you do another cycle and it doesn't work.  I say, get as many opinions as possible before moving to donor sperm (or eggs).  The idea needs major validation!

  • This is great news! I would absolutely use them as a back up plan. I would also maybe consider sending your records over now and having them take a look and see what they say. They do seem to take on a lot of long distance and difficult cases. There are many hotels in the area that aren't too expensive. And of course, this would mean a GTG!!!!!!!!! lol

I am also blessed they are in my insurance and I wont have to pay much OOP. There are so many factors to consider but I am taking the fact that they come highly recommended into consideration and I just wish I knew about them sooner. Not to say i wasted the last two years but i probably would be pregnant or ready to give birth by now.

I would absolutely consult with them before moving to DS though, thats just my opinion.
