Loosing weight on BR. Suggestions?

Looking for suggestions for calorie dense foods to gain weight while on bed rest. I feel like I eat a ton. I was gaining consistently and on track until I was put on BR and started loosing muscle. I do sheep yogurt, pastured eggs, grassfed beef, fish, sp protein shakes in whole raw milk, pastured butter, grassfed nitratefree bacon and sausage, and I actually lost 3 pounds in the last 7 weeks. I'm so bummed. I'm 28 weeks pregnant with twins. Any suggestions appreciated.

I know it's mostly all muscle mass as babies are growing great and I can see my skinny little legs have gotten skinnier. Ugg! Any muscle building exercises you find that work in bed? Suggestions for more calorie dense easy snacks?

Re: Loosing weight on BR. Suggestions?

  • No help but I also noticed that while I did not lose weight, my weight gain slowed quite a bit when I was on bedrest with my son. Muscle mass weighs a lot more than fat and we are definitely losing muscle. :(  I'd be interested in any exercises anyone knows of as well!

  • I had lost weight and was told that it was most likely simply losing muscle mass.  I have Carnation Instant Breakfast 1-2x/day now.  It is frustrating, but pretty normal :(. I have some simple bed rest "exercises" that I can email to you.  PM me your email address :)

  • I'm eating lots of carbs, too, haha. Fruit, rice, etc. I just listed the calorie dense foods I figured people would suggest. But thank you!! Appreciate the suggestions!

  • try drinking muscle milk it will help you gain weight and it comes in quite a few flavors , chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and Banana I think , they sell it in single servings and also in powdered form try the single servings to see which flavors you like then get in the bigger size
  • Thanks everyone! I will pm you when I get on my real computer, cnybride. Thanks!

  • Same here. I've been on bed rest for nearly 6 months (only 2 weeks until induction - thank goodness!)  I could not put on weight for the longest time. Ensure drinks are really good snacks and the chocolate ones aren't too bad. Peanut butter is good too.
