I have about 1000 ounces in the freezer. I am getting so tired of making those dang gift bags. What are you doing? I'd especially like to here from those with a large stash.
My stash is only about 850, but I've been storing in gallon size ziplock bags once I get enough to fill it to the brim, yet still close it. What I do is freeze the milk flat (usually on a pizza box to conserve space, and because we always have a frozen pizza in the freezer) and then once frozen I'll throw it in the gallon bag. Once it's full I'll count how much is in there and write the dates and total oz. on the outside - close it and take it to the downstairs freezer. So it'll usually say something like "Nov. 1 - Nov. 10----- 50oz" or whatever. I have those bags lined up in the freezer in our basement.
I will say, DH is getting pretty upset that he can't use the freezer downstairs anymore! Not only does it have all of my milk, I've also got two huge bags of soup that I ordered from work before it went off our menu.
It was hilarious when we had friends over for Halloween and someone went to open the freezer to get ice, not realizing I had a post it that said all ice was upstairs... he was in for a huge surprise when all he saw was little bags of white stuff and he didn't quite understand when we kept saying "It's Tyler's food stash". Finally I told him exactly what it was and I swear he turned green. Men!
Once I am able to fill up a grocery bag it goes straight over to FIL's & is stored in his garage freezer. We have a small reach-in freezer in our garage but we use it for meat, we just don't have the extra room.

Hmm. Maybe I will try the freezer bags. I don't think my sitter cares if she can conveniently pull out the milk. I am just so sick of making those things. I think it's great for girls that do more straight BF than expressed milk via a bottle.
I've been freezing the bags flat, then putting in gallon ziplocs. I don't really think it's a good system though. Our freezer is jam-fricking-packed with milk right now. I am sick of it, and DH is especially sick of it. I'm going to donate a bunch of it around christmas since I still have a minimum 5 oz per day oversupply and I only work and pump 2 days per week.
Ok so I started w those gift bags but it wasn't the best system for our deep freezer. DO - I bought photo boxes! I freeze them flat on the top of the photo box, then line the frozen milk up in the photo box on its side, arranged by far. Then when full I label w the dates and rotate them in my deep freeze- where they are ever so conveniently stackable! I love this system- plus they are reusable once you empty one so you can continue to be green and save $. I buy the boxes at the Christmas tree shop for $1.99 too
