newborn clothes sizing...

I am due in about a month and I am starting to look t some of the clothes we have ben accumulating along the way. I am thinking I will have a pretty big girl, I was 9.2 and last week (32 weeks) she was over five pounds already. For a nine pounder, do I skip straight to 3 month old clothes? What are other mothers of chunkers doing?

DS was 9lbs 2oz at birth and he fit into NB for about a week or two. The 0-3mo was way too big for him at birth. Remember most babies lose up to 10% of their weight within the first few days after birth so that may make a difference. When we were discharged our little guy had gone down to 8lbs 6oz. he finally fit into the 0-3 and 3 mos clothing at about 3 1/2 weeks.

And even w 0-3 you dont them very long. I refused to buy clothes, Id rather do laundry than have clothes she never got a chance to wear.

I was told my baby was big and she was 6lbs 8 oz. DD2 was 8lbs 6 oz. DD1 was almost would fit into some preemies. She is 4 wks and still wearing the newborn clothing. DD2 wore the newborns for quite some time. So my suggestion is to buy both sizes and just keep tags and receipts. Take one of each size for the coming home outfit.

My DS was 8lbs when he was born, 9 lbs when we had him weighed 1 wk and 1 2/2 agao, and he's still in newborn clothes.

Gerber onesies 0-3 month will NOT fit. Gerber onesies run small, sleepers run big. My LO is 8 weeks, in the 50th percentile for height and weight and fits perfectly into Carter's 3 month. 0-3 fits fine, too. He grew out of Newborn clothes fairly quickly. I'd suggest if you are expecting a big baby to start out with at least 0-3, maybe 3 month. The Little Me brand seems to run a bit big... I have a couple of 0-3 month outfits that are still too big for LO.

I was told I was having a big baby at 31ish weeks - she was measuring at 5#3. Three days later my water broke and I had her 4 days later and she was 4#9. When I was told she was going to be big I was concerned about the NB pieces I has (just a few). You never know if you'll go early and if the US is accurate.

It will really depend on the baby. DD is 4 months, almost 12lbs and still wearing NB size pants.

My lo was 8lbs2oz, she us just now at 4wks on the cusp between nb and 0-3 months clothes, some 0-3 months are still way too big, but some newborns are way to small, the only clothes I had to buy were pants so her legs didn't get cold, but I just kept everything that was given to me and am trying to get as much wear out of it as possible. I'd probably bring a couple outfits to the hospital to bring lo home in, one nb & one 0-3 mo, chances are the nb will fit. Good Luck!

Yep, my LO is 22 in and almost 11 lbs and still fits in NB, although some just barely.

E was 8.5 lbs, and fit into NB size for a few weeks, although he also fit into 3-month too. We only had one NB sized outfit, so just put him in 3-month and now he's starting to fit into 3-month a lot better

My LO was 6lbs 13oz and newborn clothes were huge on her! Now she is 9lbs 15oz and the newborn clothes are just now fitting her. So I would def take one of each with you to the hospital because you never know.

I thought DS would be a big baby because DH was 9# 7oz and I was 9# 6oz. LO was 7# 10oz at birth, went down to 7# even and is now 8# 4oz.

He was swimming in newborn sizes until just a few days ago.

I would say have a couple NB sizes on hand just in case.

Yea she was at 6lbs 1oz when we left the hospital! 0-3month clothes are swallowing her right now.
