Once Evan starts school I think he'll be eating breakfast on the way since he is soooo sloooooowwww with eating that we would never get him out of the house in time.
We have the same one. We're actually on our 2nd because somehow the clasp broke on our last road trip (I think someone stepped on it). Ian loves it. It sturdy, and easily holds the DVD player, with room to plunk down some food. You may just want to lay down a paper towel or something before putting his food down. It does handle messes pretty well, but since it's just fabric-covered foam, it will absorb big spills/get grease marks.
oh, I think I need to order one of those! I never even realized they made them.
Evan rarely eats breakfast in the car, but on the mornings he does I usually just make him a smoothie so he can drink it on the go. And then I'll make up a little "trail mix" with some cheerios, graham cracker goldfish, those dole yogurt covered fruit bites and dried apple pieces... I just put it in a travel snack bowl so he can eat in on the way.
Re: Car seat tray?
We don't have one. But this is the one I would buy when/if we buy one.

I like that it is crash tested and soft since if you had a hard tray that goes flying in a crash you could end up with more injuries.
