My Grandmother used to make these Italian "cookies" - they were so good.
I want to say they had anise seed in them and they were shaped almost like pretzels or knots or something and they were topped with cinnamon and sugar.
They are not the anise cookies with the frosting.
My grandma called the "Gemallis" pronounced Ja-mal-ees.
Anyone know what I am talking about?
I have been all over google and cant find anything! Maybe she just made them up but I would love to try to replicate them.
Thanks!
Re: Italian Cookies - Please help me remember the name!
I know exactly what you are talking about. My gram made them every year. I called my dad to ask and waiting for him to call back. I also just asked a good friend of mine who is from Italy. Let ya know what I come up with.
If we can figure this out, I'll make them this year too. Thanks for the reminder!
