December 2011 Moms

Is your baby's room ready?

Ours is not at all. At the moment it is still an office. An office with a bouncy chair in it and a closet full of baby clothes.

Our crib and change table will be available for pick up on the 18th.

We won't be decorating or painting the space but there's a lot to do before we can get the office stuff out of the room. We've been working on finishing the basement - once the drywall is in we'll get the desk and bookcases downstairs. Crunch time for sure!

Re: Is your baby's room ready?

  • We are DONE.  Clothes are washed, in the dresser, blankets on the glider.....everything is just perfect.  Bassinet's made, pack and play is up sheet's are on.  All we need is the car seat installed and a few more things hung on the walls.

We are READY, just waitin on a baby.

  • Since this LO will eventually share a room with DS, the room is ready.  But he will be in our room for the first 3 months or so, until I feel comfortable that he won't disturb DS during the night.  Our room isn't ready.  The cradle is put together & out in the garage.  The sheets are washed.  I plan on having DH wipe down the cradle & bring it in when I go into labor.

  • The crib is still set up at our "old house"...  The cradle is in the basement here...  And neither shows signs of moving any time soon...  It is what it is though...

  • nope. it will be, eventually i guess.

  • Kind of. The basics are there, so if baby decided to come today, he would have a place to sleep and get changed for sure. I still need some more baskets for stuff to be organized better, some warm-ish clothes for the first 2 or 3 months and some decorations. Otherwise I think we are getting close!

  • Nope! Not a damn thing done yet LOL....

The room is completely empty except the gifts we recieved from our babyshower this past weekend! I have to order the crib (this week) and then start putting together and/or setting up all the baby gear (swing, pack n'play, highchair, etc...).... I haven't decorated anything or organized any baby clothes!

Sooooo behiiiind! But now that we actually have baby gear in the room, I'm starting to feel those nesting urges Wink  Looking forward to putting it all together!

  • Seeing your post makes me feel SO much better (even though I'm 38 weeks today*sob*). Carter has to share a room with his sister but she's going through a huge destroy everything phase so whatever he owns is in the trundle drawer that came with his crib inside the crib! We don't have a mattress yet (promised by a relative and silly us believed her), The PnP he was supposed to get so he could spend the first few months in our room fell through ( didn't find out until 10 mins ago) so now I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what to do for his sleeping arrangements.

Its so stressful because I can't really do anything with his stuff without some kind of plan of where he's sleeping and DH is so wishy washy right now that nothing ever gets done. I figured we'd move his crib into our room but he wants to wait..uhh we're kind of out of waiting time! I have had so much anxiety over this whole thing- I don't want to be scrambling the day I get home from the hospital to get his part of our room ready but thats probably exactly what will happen...

*I understand that the no brainer part would be run out and get his mattress but this relative was ADAMANT about buying it so instead of saving our giftcards up we used them to buy a digital camera so we could take pictures. I'll probably end up returning the camera and buying a mattress. And before I get flamed for "relying" on others for gifts-it was not my idea to lay me off in July from my job so things are VERY tight and I refuse to bust into our limited savings if I don't have too.

  • Not even close!  We are supposed to be closing on a home very near the due date, so we have not set up anything where we currently live.  We have all the basics, but won't really set things up until much closer to the EDD.  Knowing DH and I, we'll put the PNP or basinette together when we're laboring at home or very near the due date... anything to keep my mind distracted!

  • Yep! DH had to work all weekend, so my mom helped me finish it yesterday. All of the furniture is in, the bedding is on and the wall decorations are up. Just about all of LO's clothes have been laundered and are in his dresser.

We had previously purchased the 9 cube Cubical thing from Target. We have so much stuff that we ended up getting another one for the other side of his room. Luckily, we had the space to fit another one.

Now we just need a baby!

  • Baby will be in our room for the first 6 months with naps taking place in "nursery" - that's the theory.

  • Nope!  Slacker here!  :)

We are moving DD into our spare bedroom and putting this baby into her room since basically everything is already there - crib, recliner, dresser, etc.  But we need to slowly transition DD from her crib (she's already climbing out at home & daycare - she sleeps on a toddler bed at daycare now).  I'm guessing this won't take place until AFTER the baby comes home.  We have a bassinet and pack n play that we will use in our room for awhile anyway.

  • It's finally starting to come along...

DH just finished wiring the whole room last night. It's painted and that's about where it ends...

My mom is trying to fit time this week in her schedule to come buff the hardwood floors and we hope to put up the crib and other furniture this weekend or next week.

I still don't have a chair. I've ordered all the stuff to make a mobile but haven't gotten around to actually making it. I'm at a bit of a loss with wall art (and we have tons of wall space :S). I do have a rug! But we are light fixture less... And I'm LOST with curtains. Curtains for a little boy are tough!

  • I'm so glad I am not the only one! I feel like such a slacker when people are asking me if the room is ready. NO crib yet, I think it is on order? We have a pnp if she were to come today.

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Totally in the same boat. I'm still waiting on our hardwoods to be installed so that I can move my office stuff out and get my dad and DH to set up her crib and dresser
  • I am glad we aren't alone.

It's awesome when people ask what our nursery theme/colours are. The baby gets the same colour as us -- and theme -  at this point "storage chic?"

  • We just got the room gutted... now we got to replace the window, put up new dry wall, put in new flooring (carpet), paint, and put up a new light... so no. LOL. not even close to being baby ready. Tongue Tied

  • I swear I've had it "all ready" 4 different times.  I have a shower and it becomes a disaster zone again. I am currently ready, but the boppy and bouncer are sitting in the crib. I still need to hang a few things on the walls.

  • Not quite, I have almost everything I need for it though. We just need to do another deep cleaning of everyhing and wash bedding and pull the whole thing together. One of our spare bedrooms looks like BBB's stock room. I can't wait to get organized.

I also need drawer lines...preferrably organic options to start organizing clothing. So any info as to where I can get them is appreciated also:)

  • We are 100% done. Pictures are hung, everything is washed, floor is vacuumed, crib is made...we are ready to go.

  • In a way. We don't have a set bed yet. DD1 is still in the converted crib. H is in the process of making her a new toddler bed, so we can put the crib back together. Other than that, we're all set.
  • It's just about there, mostly meaning the important stuff is bought and in the room, although we still have to get a pad for the change table and wash all of the clothes/linens and put sheets on the bassinet, crib, etc. The wall decorations are done, but not hung yet, and I still have some sewing projects outstanding, I may try to finish them at my Mom's this weekend, but it is cushions for the window seat, so really not critical for baby coming home.

I am focusing on getting the "must haves" done, like getting the car seat inspected this weekend, and things like hanging decorations on the wall can always wait til later, she won't mind :)

  • It's close. We are still having two more showers so there is some stuff we still need, but haven't purchased yet in case we get it as a gift. There are some things we are going to get after our shower this week just in case lo decides to come early. But, we just need two or three things if he arrives now.

  • Sort of. We have all the basic stuff set up, but we still need to get things like crib sheets and changing pad covers. And a PnP since LO will be sleeping in our room at first. I have a feeling that we will never feel like we are 100% ready.

  • Oh no...still so much to do! We've painted, but we still need to put the molding in (and paint that), put up the new celing fan, put together the crib, and the bigest part...frame the closit in, drywall, and paint. I don't mind  the molding and stuff not getting done until later if need be, but I really want the closit in so I can put DD stuff away.

  • All decorated, clothes in dresser, all the supplies ready to go except for the new crib. DH is picking that up this wednesday and getting it ready. We have a bassinet for our room for the first few weeks anyway.

Ours was easy though..it was already a nursery for DS1. we just moved DS1 into his big boy room (that was the tough one, decorating and getting everything moved from guest bedroom to toddler room) and then the nursery was all set.

  • We are not ready at all!!  We don't even have a room for baby yet!!  We were suppose to close on our house two weeks ago and it keeps getting pushed back!!  I am about to pull my hair out!!!  Hopefully we will close on Thursday and we can start moving Friday.  I hope this baby doesn't come early!!!!!
  • Not at all. The big thing is we painted, but the crib/car seat/all baby clothes and gear are in storage. Need to find that stuff. At this point if baby came, the only place she could sleep would be our bed or our chests, she wouldn't have any clothes or diapers and she wouldn't have a car seat to ride home in. Luckily we could find it if she came early, but I'm holding out hope that she hangs tight till 39ish weeks or later. :)
  • We are nearly there. I just have to put up the curtains( which I still haven't ironed), the closet doors and the bedroom door and I'll be happy with it! We still have trim to put up but as long as the bedroom door is in, the trim can go on after she's here. I don't think she will notice that she doesn't have trim. LOL

  • Yes and no. It's not done being decorated bur it's functional abd all the big stuff is there . Babe will sleep in our room for the first bit anyways and if there isn't any wall decor don't think babe will care lol

  • We recently sold our house and are moving into a new one on Friday. My house is full of boxes and I have nothing done. I'm more than slightly stressed about this and have the urge to NEST. too bad I can't do anything until I'm into the new place.

  • Nope! Drywall is being finished by Wednesday (Hopefull!)  Carpet is being installed Friday.  The begininng of the following week we are hoping to get all the molding up.  Then probably the following week sometime it will get painted and everything moved into the room!

  • Not even close!  The crib is still in the box.  All of our gifts, diapers, wipes, small things, etc are in suitcases/totes.  We still have to buy a dresser/changing table.  Our closet, well it doesnt have shelves or a place to hang anything.  Strangest closet i've ever seen.  We still need to pack away all the crap that is sitting in the closet and then put up shelves/racks.  Our car seat, PnP, and bouncer will be here by the end of this week.  The bassinet is set up and ready to go though :)  About 30% of LO's clothes are hanging in our room, the other 70% are waiting to be washed or are in totes until we can get a dresser or set up the closet.  Other than the room not being ready, we have 98% of everything we need for LO so we're ready in that way :)
