12wks and not napping or sleeping at night

My DS just turned 12 weeks this past sunday, and this past week has been a nightmare. Normally, he would sleep pretty well at night getting up once in about a 8-9hr period and took 2 pretty good naps a day. Last week, all of a sudden he stopped napping (only sleeping about 30-45min at a time) and getting up almost 4-5 times at night. Before, I could give him his paci and shoosh him back to sleep pretty easily, but now the only way he'll fall asleep is in my arms. I dont want to start a bad habit but we BOTH have got to get some rest since I work nights. He's been chewing on his fists and drooling, could he be teething? When he's up he's not necessarily crying all the time just fussy on and off. Maybe this is the 12 wk GS? Anyone else experience this around this time? Any ideas or suggestions? I've tried baby orajel, tyelnol, and teething tablets (just tried these last night). Help!

This. Except my dd NEVER naps! She turns 12weeks tomorrow. Drooling like crazy. I started giving the tablets before bed, but not sure if it's helping. I started swaddling again and it seems to help a little.

  • same here...I posted a similar post earlier, I guess it's a phase.  I hope it ends soon :(

  • We went through this and started swaddling again. Definitely try that instead of possibly needlessly making his liver deal with the tylenol.

  • My DD is 10, almost 11, weeks and did something like this yesterday and today. It is AWFUL! I hope it will pass quickly. She is also more clingy and needs to be held a lot. Growth spurt maybe?
