I am 38w3d and SOOO ready to have this baby. I'm not trying to rush my LO by any means, I just really want her to be ready to come out so I can be somewhat comfortable again. My Dr. keeps saying its going to happen before my EDD and I have a feeling that will happen too, but at this point I am feeling a little discouraged and deflated thinking we're not making any progress. That Baby is VERY low and my cervix is really thin (judging from my appointment last Monday) but I am not dilated at all
My Dr. tried to sweep the membranes but could not fully reach where she need to.Ever since she did that I have been having some serious contractions off and on.. nothing getting more intense or even time-able. I haven't even lost my MP yet.
What were some of your signs a week of so leading up to labor where you can say you KNEW it was going to happen soon?
Re: 2nd + timers(going into labor ?)
With my first the only reason I KNEW it was going to happen soon was because I was 11 days overdue when she was born. And at that point it is pretty much guaranteed to happen soon.
With my second the only reason I KNEW it was going to happen soon was because she was born on her due date. And again at that point it is pretty much guaranteed to happen soon.
Sorry, I had no inkling or signs that it was going to happen when it did for either kid, other than I was close to or past my due date.
But you won't be pregnant forever, the baby will come out by 42 weeks.
For me there where no signs what so ever. I had all my energy, felt pretty good, and couldn't feel any contractions at all. Then early in the morning around 1am or so I felt like I had contracted a stomach bug, and was in and out of the bathroom all night long. I woke up around 9am, tried to eat some breakfast, and could keep it down so I called the dr. They told me to head to the hospital, check in at L & D to get a few bags of fluids, and I would be on my way. I checked in, they got the fluids started, and thats when we all found out I was in active labor, and already dilated to a 5. I was a 3 the week before.
With DS I was induced, and didn't go into labor on my own.

This time around, I have constant BH and real contractions that start in my back and I feel SO much pressure. Had bloody show and lost my mucus plug. Dr. said that given that I've started dilating and having contractions, she thinks the baby will be born before Thanksgiving but who knows?
I am so hoping that my water breaks so I know when to go in. I've already been into L&D twice when contractions were 5 mins apart, and was sent home.
Mine was induced on day 9 overdue. He came on day 10. Sorry, i'm no help, as i made no progress on my own. I'm also watching this thread b/c i need to know too! Good luck!
Had absolutely ZERO signs that I was going to go into labor. On my EDD (a Friday), I went to my OB appt -cervix was still high and tightly closed. Went to work, then that evening at home, I lost my mucus plug. However, still felt compeltely normal. Sunday I had VERY MILD contractions about 30 minutes apart. BF and I went on about our day as normal. Later that night (around 8pm), they started to get closer together but still not painful. Once they reached about 3 mins apart (around midnight), I hopped in the shower to get ready to head to the hospital.
Everyone is different. Some women "know" it's coming. Other women are like me, and have ZERO indication when things will happen or that labor is coming!
I don't think I had clear signs since I had been dilated for several weeks and contracting on and off. I was getting very uncomfortable. I never lost my mucus plug.
I did do manual nipple stimulation the night before I went into labor.
Don't plan on going into labor before your due date. You'll just be even more miserable if it doesn't happen. I assumed from the beginning that it would be 41 weeks, so at most I would only have another week to go after that. There's no reason to worry about not being dilated. It is not at all an indicator of when you will go into labor. I declined cervical checks during pregnancy for that very reason. It doesn't mean anything and will just disappoint you or get your hopes up for no reason.
I woke up with contractions two days before my due date and DS was born 6 hours later. I had no signs beforehand, no mp, dilation, etc. I had felt completely normal the day before. I'm assuming I wasn't dilated before either because I was first checked during labor before heading to the clinic and I was less than 1cm. DS was born just over an hour later.

My BFP Chart
I was 40 weeks and 1 day at my last OB appointment. He checked me and said I was not dilated at all.
We scheduled an induction for the following Sunday. The very next morning at 40weeks, 2 day - I woke up at 2am with mentrual like cramps and knew that labor was impending. I never lost my mucus plug or had my system start cleaning itself out. I went to the hospital around 9pm and had my son the next day at 8pm.
I gave birth to my son at 40week, 3 days.
Brayden (5 1/2) born 12.28.06
Hailey (4 1/2) born 2.25.08
Taylor (8 Months) born 12.26.11
Pooping a lot! Like 3 times a day...soft serve ice cream (sorry TMI but true) My body was pretty much cleaning itself out.
Mucous plug came out in the shower about 2 days before I went into labor.
Day of labor I had non-stop, non-painful BH's. They were coming about 10-15 minutes and then suddenly turned painful and stronger.
I didn't know. I had a c-section scheduled for 39 weeks (breech baby) so I figured that was when he was going to arrive.
I went into labor the morning I turned 38 weeks. The evening before I had been at the gym, in the pool, on the treadmill and doing some light weights. I felt "normal". The next morning at about 4:30 I started having contractions.
It'll happen soon - hang in there!
